Transformers Movie
« on: July 14, 2007, 05:15:57 am »
Any of my old friends from here gone to see it? And if so what did you think?

Myself while it was certainly a departure from TF cannon I realy enjoyed it. Bay actualy did a good job with it (and hopefully will continue to do so with the sequels). Don't expect me to post any spoilers here or anything; I want to know your actual oppinions.

now lets see how many people here remember me

Ok so you probably dont know me at all, but I just saw (with quite a large worry of how they would pull it off and not be totally lame).

I am happy to say its while reasonably cliche/what you would expect to see its worth the watch.  I would point out its going to be a target audience (a bit like starship troopers) but it will get a good following I believe.

Enjoy all.
You may know me as, Ragnom Ebbes or his seldom seen life long friend Magoos Utu

Perhaps I missed the point as I was not raised on the cartoon (although my friend who watched it religiously agreed with me), but to me the most memorable part of the experience was the preview for the Simpsons Movie before the feature.
"Here's to lowering caskets of old friends choice and consequence we'll birth a new day with the death of an old and start over, start over.  Here's to burying hatchets in those who you'd never call your friend...we'll birth a new day with the death of an old day and start over, start over!"

Anyone seen the movie "Team America"?
They had this great song it with the lyrics:
'Why is Micheal Bay still allowed to make movies?'
;) After seeing Transformers, everybody is going to ask that question.

Eeh...I'm with them on this point. Didn't care much for the new movie.
Then again I didn't expect much from it either. Now a Thundercats Movie would be cool.

I use to always watch transformers when i was little and I absolutely loved the movie. It had awesome special effects, fight scenes, and a hot babe...what else do you need? :P

Actually, I would prefer a Smurfs movie staring Danny DeVito as Gargamel.

hey Hatchnet,

it was a fair film... the cartoons were cooler though.

the end fight really just seemed to drag on in the end and the product placement in it was annoying.
<Rux> i wish i could say that narrows it down, but the internet is one freaky place

First you'll have to get approval of this fellow:

It was Him, and not Marx who invented the Smurfs.

@Socius: S.M.U.R.F.S. for everyone! The Smurfs are communists, so its creator won't pay a burgeoise lawyer to make an unjust capitalistic lawsuit against anyone who creates a movie about them. Now maybe he left this world, and then a corporate got hold of the smurfs copyrights alongside Mafiaa and will get their lawyers ready to make additional profits from sues.  >o)

As of the original topic, I never saw much on transformers, actually "oldschool" stuff I saw and liked a long time ago was Jaspion, Jiraya and Jiban among other tokusatsus(Except of course Power Rangers). I heard about Changeman too, but never saw it. I think all those mentioned series have one or more resemblances to Tranformers, specially the "giant robots" stuff.

Good scene from the movie.  Contains some spoilers but has a nice speech by Optimus ( the original voice actor for the cartoons also did the movie which was a nice touch ).
