linux updater refreshing issue
« on: July 14, 2007, 08:04:51 pm »
i installed .019 a few days ago, fresh install

when running the updater a few minutes ago i realised i had to refresh the window manually (by minimising/restoring or rolling) or downloading would stop after about 10 seconds
-> if i don't refresh update will take forever and the gui doesn't show changes (progress bars)

also the updater failed to update itself (up), i had to replace up with the tmp file after exiting

i'm on gentoo, desktop is xfce4 + beryl if that matters

(sorry, please move)

Just run "./updater --auto" in the terminal until updater GUI problems are sorted out.
It works much faster in the terminal anyway.

Also when you have a problem updating something (such as "up"), as soon as you start the "./updater --auto" command, delete the file you are having problems with (in this case "up") and everything will go through. If you don't want to delete it, just to be safe, you can rename the file or move it to a different directory.

The same Problem here on Debian Etch Kernel 2.6.21-4.
I hope the Devellopers solve this Problem in the next time.

This is an very old issue.

Found the same problem on Fluxbox. Forcing the Updater to redraw by shunting it about the screen with my mouse worked around the problem.

I didn't notice this one.

But I definitely hit this one. Is there bug reports for either of these?
