I'm surprised most people are from ages 31 to 45... Kind of creepy.

Why is it creepy?  ::| You do know you will age right Raa?  ;D

Don't most people start young? I mean, when you play games when you're a little kid and make up a character, isn't that technically LARPing?

:) Ya, I started young. It was called Atari (released in October 1977), then it when to Nintendo and Sega. The internet didn't exist when the "older generation" was super young and it only became known in the early 1990's.  So the "older generation" didn't have what the "newer generation" does when it comes to online gaming.  Wait ...  why was I typing this? Oh ya .... because fo the question "Don't most people start out young ......?"  Well I didn't answer the question that you were really asking but ah ... there some useless info none the less.

Well... compared to my age... it's a bit creepy. And then when you consider the... Nevermind.  :-X

I mean Live Action Roleplaying. Example: me and my friends would make up elf/dwarf/orc/whatever characters and go down to the river or run around the neighborhood and fight with fake swords, axes, spears and all that stuff. I don't think Atari, Nintendo, and Sega really count. :P

I started young. I remember playing cowboys and indians in the early 60's among other assorted things including Monopoly, Parcheesi and whatnot. That faded, as it always does and by the early 70's I was a hardcore pinball freak which led to the early video games such as Pong and Asteroids. Then there was DnD and Board Games unlike those kiddie ones such as Tactics II, Rail Baron, Sniper and many many more. Eventually the video games killed off the pinball and when computers advanced to sufficient power the board games became computer games but of course that completely ignores the role of Nintendo and other console games.

Well how creepy is that?

Well not unless your using them, pretending that they are part of a spaceship and it's controls. :P

Pinball! Pinball is great and one of my favorites. (Now that I understand the question Raa was asking...) I started out young too. My step father built me a shield and sword out of plywood.  I also had alot of dress up clothes and we would use the type of clothing we were wearing to determind the type (theme) of game we were playing. I used to use sparkles and throw them as I was casting spells so it looked more realistic. Oh fun times!

I roleplayed that I was a cat for a few years.

If I knew then what I know about furries now, I'd have immediately moved on to my scientist/archeologist and/or detective/spy phase...D:

And of course, there was playing House and the like, but I preferred to throw in fantasy twists like having a pet dragon or playing as a family of giants. I also played console games, but started out with Crash Bandicoot and Gex. I didn't discover Final Fantasy and Zelda 'til after I found online play-by-post.

Live Action Role Playing is cool, i attended an event called the gathering a few years back - you get about 6000 people crammed on a field for 4 days with a big battle on the last day - run by an organisation called the lorian trust i think.

As for being creepy - get down girl *slaps her about a bit with a latex sword*

Who you calling creepy - what you got to remember is that RPGS started when we were your age and at that time were generally left in the hands of adults to organise the games. Makes sense that in a role play enviroment that the sons and daughters of gary gygax are found here :)
