Crafting shields seems to be broken.

After talking to some people here and there I finally deduced what I thought was my problem in making a simple shield. It seems that the two components one needs is the iron shield handle and the round shield according to the catalog of shields, not the iron buckler shape and iron shield handle. So I rounded up enough iron to make 11 steel stocks and made the small round iron shield shape. But that and the iron handle still won't combine. At this point I am totally without any thoughts as to what to do next but quit trying to make shields.

I have no problems whatsoever making swords and daggers of various kinds. And the text from the book of blades does match the process of making the blades. But when I follow the instructions in the catalog of shields I get absolutely no where.

not all parts of shield making work and not all parts of a shield you can make will make a shield atm. but there are several shields that can be made if you have the skills to do so.

Of course, I continue to consider it ridiculous that shields still don't do anything even with all the art, while plate mail and helmets are fully implemented. It makes me wonder whether or not they plan to have shields work completely differently, or something. If that's the case, it definitely won't be like how most MMORPGs to date do shields (just adding more defense, like armor).

Well, in the mmorpg's I play there is also block chance...  which is not evading, but has the same effect all damage is completely blocked out, depending on the shield depends on the block chance... That might be in consideration, also how much damage a shield sustains after blocking... Shields should be able to be destroyed in combat if they take enough of a beating...

Looking at some of the shields they would probably have other bonuses.  Such as the spike shield would deal extra damage, or you could use your shield as a blunt weapon.

Does damage by slaming the shield into your opponet? Spike shield does extra damage or something? xD

D20.... ahhh how that brings back memories of times before I came to planeshift... yes I was a nerd even before I came here... My roleplaying forum days... A long story connects me from there to here... But thats not the point. Yes I know D20, but isn't that mostly for written RP?

It combined quite wonderfully with 3D real-time combat in the form of Neverwinter Nights.

Wouldn't that be incredible if PS combat could be tweaked to capture the flow and feeling of NWN battles?

I hope you are not saying I wasted my time turning 14 steel stock into something that Trasok will only give me 60 trias for.
