Another quest that doesn't work: archaeologist sisters

After a while, I finally found the ruins near Hydlaa and tried to give Nyshir (sp?) the items from Canyt (a stone tablet and a note). To my surprise Nyshir didn't want to know anything about them ("Trade cancelled. Nyshir doesn't need that"). I tried giving the items one by one (in both possible orders) but it didn't work either. I insisted but to no avail. I even tried to talk to Nyshir about her sister and she just would not seem to understand me.

I think the quest is buggy.

You have to say the right thing. Look carefully at what Canyt asked you to do. If you are pretty sure you tried the correct sentence (because others used it with success) please make a bug report.

Maybe I'm missing something. My notes only say that I have to give the items to her sister at the Hydlaa ruins (that took me several days to find), so I assumed that not accepting the items either together or separated (in either order) is a bug in itself. But if you say I'm wrong in this, then I must be.

Btw, somebody has PMed and emailed me asking to edit the quest items becuase that could be a spoiler. Know it's not because they are given by Catyn at the beginning of the quest (there's no mystery about them). If moderators think otherwise they can edit the topic themselves.

Make sure that you don't have any other quest unfinished that involves Nyshyn. If you do, the two quests will interfere with one another - and if that's the case, try finishing the other quest first.

I suggest you check the log file for what she really said My log file tells me I had to say something first.

No, almost for sure I don't. My new char has very few quests in stock (I'm getting tired of them, and anyhow they don't give that many SPs, it seems) and, unless Tiara Priesti's or Reghnir's quests extend far into complex ramifications that somehow end with Nyshyn, I don't. This char only has BD quests active and still Nyssyn only says something like "can't understand you" or "can you be more explicit" even when I say "Canyt sends me" or "Can you identify this stone tablet?" or whatever combination/variation of these sentences that I was able to imagine. No way.

Since you're not sure whether those other quests involve Nyshyn or not, I still suggest that you try to complete them first. Who knows, it might be as simple as that.

Just wait till you try and give her the ring back, then you'll be pulling out your hair in frustration...


BTW that note with the inscription, does it disapear when the ring is inscribed? Cause the NPC scribe never took it, I still have that note in my inventory, is it needed after that point, should I scrap?

Quests used to be much worse, with questgivers not even hinting at what to say, and sometimes even only slightly indicating who to ask. I remember spending hours trying variations of answers to different npcs, just to find that I should remove 'the' somewhere. Believe me, this quest is much easier. From the answers you gave I can see you are thinking right, but might have missed the correct answer even with 'whatever combination'. I can not be any more specific in here without giving a spoiler, but I am not at all convinced that this quest is bugged

I'm thinking that it might be a much more simple answer: "When NPCclient is unavailable, NPCs cannot offer or continue quests as well as attack" (from the Server FAQ). Can this be the real reason that I think they are buggy. I have yet to try to do them when NPC client is working (I suspect), because I try to do quests (or mine) when I can't fight because the infamous "impervious" thingy. Yet other quests seem to work normally...
