A good thing someone holds an event....but please, try to include some RP story in such an event next time.

Roleplaying??

What more is needed?

Even if this event was real life, I wouldn't need any story or other reason to play. If somebody organized an event just like this in real life, I would join.

What about a background? What are the motives of your character to do something alike? You could do something like "My character lost important notes, please help me to recover them".

Maybe their character was sick of crafting and questing and just decided to pass the time by holding an event? There shouldn't have to be a novel about a simple fun event. True, there could be a little more background info, but theres no harm in having some fun.

When people play sports, there is definitely no story behind that. They just play to win and have fun. That is the way I meant this event to be.

What if this event had been a race instead of a book hunt? Would that require a background story, or could a race be held just for fun?

I'm not wanting an argument. I think most people would agree that in a role playing game, there is room for activities that are just for fun. Just like the things we do in real life.

One thing I could have done was to explain the event better in my original post. I apologize for not doing that.

[And people ask why there isn't more 'RP'....

Whenever someone makes an effort they are nit picked to death until it turns into a flame thread and they just give up.

Sure it is a somewhat simple event without much reason, but as dptr1988 comes up with more ideas for events, and gains some experience in running them, who knows where they may lead or even how well they will be thought out.

I just think it is wiser to offer advice and guidance, like Donari's previous comments, than it is to degrade and insult.

Congrats on a successful little event dptr1988 ]
