Havocs Protege, there IS interbreeding. There are only a small number of exceptions. Thanks.

Also, your example's a bad one: Klyros are the only breeding species (ie non-Kran) who can't interbreed at all, since they're reptiles and all the other races are mammals.
It's funny that you follow biology rules here but not as far as interbreeding between different mammals is concerned.

Why is that funny? This is a fantasy game. We've set the rules for interbreeding as such and there you go.

Meh, this is all confusing...it should really be explained exactly WHY better, not just "because we set it that way."

You know what? I could explain why. But if I did, would that deter people from questioning it anyway? I'm guessing no.

Have you read the book?

I find the how the rules were set funny because they obviously don't take much into consideration besides the need to allow interbreeding between some races. Just like I find funny how Krans can marry. They look to me as player happiness oriented functions instead of setting details. I find that silly and therefore funny.

Same here... At least it isn't as bad as it is in other games. I heard you can marry other players in MapleStory, and considering the age group and the fact that they have no reason to marry, it's hilarious.

Seeing as how this thread has long since left the original proposal and devolved into why is it the way it is perhaps it could be split off from the last on-topic post -- I think it was the original reply -- and be moved to a more appropriate spot.

There are many things that are for player happiness and not settings details. Guilds as they are currently structured are completely out of context as is the group function. Tells are as well. The status window gives way more information than it should but it partially makes up for unimplementable features which would visually impart of some of the same information. The fact is this is a game and has a certain set of rules. Any games rules are completely arbitrary and the best you can hope for is some consistency.

Finally everyone should be a Kran and all these silly problems would go away! ;)

But Krans can marry krans. Some people might make this into a new problem. Someone's always mad. :-\

Also, I think that the character selection is fine as is. Perhaps, rather than working on parent races, the work could be put to more use on making more models for current races. Too many races don't even have models yet, and I would like to see those first.
Have you told a Daylo 'I hate you' yet today? Do it. You'll get teleported to another area!

Wow, someone managed to bring it back to the original topic! Thanks! :)
Personally I don't see a purpose in "parent races" myself for reasons I outlined earlier, but keep in mind that making models is a different department (art) than the ones that would make "parent races." (rules and engine) So no, the work actually couldn't be put to more use making models. It would be nice if it worked that way, though wouldn't it?  :detective:

One problem about this theary. After succesful cross breedding a new offspring would be created except it may be so diffrent from current races that it would be its own race. An example of this is the Diaboli. After two of these "New Races" were created then they could reproduce together and create a new mix of the two even more diffrent than any of the grandparents. What I am saying is if this were totally realistic an almost unlimited amout of races could be created. Just look at dogs although thier in one race cross breeding two diffrent kinds of dogs yields a new and unique one that has many traits from thier parents but is very diffrent at the same time. Hope I hav'nt been rambling the whole time and make some sense.

There is no evolution of species in this game. There are the races there are and that is all that shall be. Cross breeds, other than one exception, do not exist.
I suggest the statue of Laanx gets turned into a statue of Parallo <3. An NPC could never replace the huge hole he left in my heart when he died  :'(
