Install is Wrong ???

After installing the .bin file though the terminal using sudo I have two problems

1. have to use Sudo to open everything (minor inconvenience)
2. Graphics do not work (bit larger of a problem)

since I'm running from terminal this is what I get

not Sure what a "nix" is but just for informations sake Im running 7.04 Ubuntu

A "nix" is short for Linux, meaning, your Ubuntu. Anyways, why are you running it in the terminal? When installing, add your desktop shortcuts, that may have a graphical error to pinpoint the problem.

I did not add desktop icons but I did to menu.  When click I get the following error

Failed to execute child process.
"/opt/PlaneShift/psclient" (Permission Denied)

The same happens for all PlaneShift Items (updater, Uninstaller,Client ect.)

As for graphical errors the PlaneShift window pops up it looks like a spash screen but I cannot see the bottom of the window and music plays after a while it goes away and what I only can assume is the Logon Screen appears but I can see no text only random green pixels and a check box. I also cannot see my mouse.

I hope this can pinpoint the problem.

Ah Ok, I just solved your problem for you with one word "opt."  Ok, when installing Planeshift, you installed it to opt as directed. DON'T. Now uninstall it and install it to /home/username. That should work fine. Make sure you install menu/desktop icons and it will work great!

How do I uninstall? I used sudo nautilus to delete the folder in /opt. Then I reinstalled but no Icons appear. What next?

Its under you /opt directory. There is a folder titled Planeshift in your /opt. Open that and look for the uninstaller.

Thats ok, thats all uninstalling it would do. So now just reinstall it to /home/username and make desktop shortcuts, it will work fine.

This is what it has looked like all along.  The First screen in the client is fine but any other screen is like this.  Does this have anything to do with the fact that I installed the Gnome Version or that I let it set its own permissions.  I know that that is probably not it but I just want to check.
