Cash prizes! Storytelling and poetry event!
« on: September 22, 2007, 08:31:51 pm »
Arnigus Faymore waddles his way up to the Board of Public Announcements, a sheaf of papers in one hand, and a pastry clutched in the other. He pauses for a moment, seeming to consider how to post his papers without having to put his pastry down. Finally, with a shrug, he stuffs the entire pastry in his mouth so that he may pin the announcement up. He smiles to himself at the fancy lettering and gold leaf border. Turning to any who might be close, he begins a short speech.

“Hrrr eee, hrrr eee!” he starts, spraying powdered sugar into the air around his mouth full of pastry. He pauses momentarily, looking embarrassed, as he finishes chewing and finally give a loudly audible swallow. “Pardons! Many pardons my good folks. I forgot myself in my excitement. ‘What excitement?’ you may ask. Well! Let me tell you!”

Arnigus takes his best speaking pose, shoulders back and chest out over his massive belly.

“In light of all this talk of darkness and such, we have decided there needs to be something to lift the mood a bit. There is to be a Storytelling and Poetry event in Jardet’s Garden, which you might also know as the Secret Garden. Better still, there will be Money prizes for those favored by the crowds, and three larger prizes for those deemed best in the show! All you need to know is on this poster, and a similar one over in Ojaveda. I will see you there!”

Arnigus waddles back away from the Board, pulling another paper wrapped pastry from his pocket.

The poster reads as follows:

[[No downtime is scheduled for Sunday in the calendar.

Also folks, if you wish to make your Telling go a little smoother, faster, and easier, you are welcome to pre-write your stories or poems and use shortcuts. Please keep the text in the shortcuts to a reasonable size, though, and spread longer tales out in multiple shortcuts/posts, with a little bit of time between them. This will make it easier for folks to read and enjoy. Sorry for the short warning, but such is life.]]

[{It was a nice event, nice stories, won some (read: a lot of) trias, Good organized, and the organizer was good and funny  :flowers: One tiny suggestion, next time (i hope there is a next time ^^) it would be nice to have a Jury casting the vote for the winners, else whole guild can be called upon, friends, people who only heard the last story ect. But I have to say that's a tiny remark on a wonderful experience}]

[[The event went well, even though it ended with a lag problem forcing me to give out second place to three people. Half of the voters (and one Teller) vanished, and did not return. The vote worked well this time, as it was not told to the players until the end, and the crowd was varied and small. The next event will have a different voting system to ensure guild fairness.]]

Arnigus waddles up to the Board once again, completely out of breath, and posts a new note. He pulls out a cloth to wipe the sweat off his bald head, and tosses a smile to anyone looking his way. He then waddles back off again, saying something about needing a drink and a good pastry.

The note reads as follows-

My good folks. The event was a success, despite the short notice. The stories told were quite... interesting. I thank you who came, and encourage those who did not to meet up with us next time. The next Telling will be announced as soon as possible to give you more time to prepare. Once again, thank you for your time!

Arnigus Faymore.
