An advanced treasure hunt with keys stashed away in unlikely places. Plaster every building with doors and make the key disappear after three unsuccessful unlock attempts, with cryptic clues on the keys indicating which house they open.

Or even re institute the crystal spawn for a time, and have a 24 hr period in which to collect the most.  It will give us a chance to run our old routes like before
