The younger history of Yliakum - Written down in books
« on: October 13, 2007, 04:46:32 am »
Heya!
Thanks to the hard work of the setting team we players enjoyed a couple of great events in the past.
Some of them, especially the large ones like 'The Shields of Eldoreth' or the latest 'Crystal Eclipse' events ,  even had impact on the whole setting and the history of Yliakum.

Well, my wish is quite simple:
I'd really love to see books about the events that went down in history in one of the libraries. It would be a great chance to catch up with the past for new players and to refresh memories for those who participated. If those great stories will not be written down somewhere they'll vanish in the course of time.

That's it. What do you think about it?

Greetings

Players could do this and copy the book and put it in circulation. Makes sense that someone who was there writes about the event anyway.
Hide where they expect you to... Its what they least expect.

I thought about that too but noticed some problems with player written books:
1. As far as I know there's no way to duplicate books but to re-write them yet which is extremely time-consuming.
2. Books written by players would disappear if the original author leaves PlaneShift and nobody else continues to copy and spread the books
3. It could be very hard to get books if you're looking for a specific story.

there should be a way to give a copy of a selfwritten book to the libary in hydlaa.
Maybe you could give a book to a NPC (in the libary or a similiar place) that sends the text of the book to a Dev or GM. (maybe there should be a spam filter too)  In the case it's something worth and OK with the settings the Dev/GM can approve it and so it gets published in the libary.

IG yes, there is none. however with this program (http://dudu.110mb.com/ArsClip.zip) you can easily copy paste books.  \\o//

- write your text in a note book (not IG!)
- do ctrl + c to your whole text
- go ingame, open a book. edit it then press alt + v , maintain F3 and select the text to "print"
- wait that your text has been correctly typed in your book. (Note : if you dont maintain F3, only some part of the book will be print IG)

Move on now!  \\o// get all your poetry, story, events IG  \\o//
