This game has become unplayable
« on: November 09, 2007, 04:00:25 am »
Since I started the game has become laggier and laggier, and now i am at 0-1 fps.  I turned down draw distance and everything, but still am having trouble.  Is it just me or s their something with the server?  I hope I will be able to play again shortly.

I think it is likely a bug if it used to work for you but this release does not.  Some people are experiencing a slowness bug and that could be affecting it.  What are your system spec btw?  Video Card, Ram, Processor?

Personally, I don't like the 768 Mb RAM.  Things nowadays need at least a Gb to really do well (and some OS' actually need that much to run); I have 2 Gb.

The constant slowdown does sound like a RAM issue to me; though since I'm not an expert, I can be over-ruled easily.

What's your OS?
Are you running new Leopard?

A couple possibilities - if you're having general slowness issues try getting the maps with less grass posted on the main page.  If the slowdown is progressive while in the same area, can you try monitoring how much memory PS is using over time?

It is known that the new maps use more memory then the old maps. so if you had some problems with lag in the old client you would have even more in the new maps.

Yep, I have left Planeshift myself. Downloaded latest version and normal wilds where before I had almost no problems were just a series of pictures. Same like the the Fortress in version before. After relight I just had a huuuge lag and what for? I didnt notice better graphic. *shroughs* The PS version I enjoyed the most was 0.11 anyway.

So now Im running WoW without a problem. Im not going to buy new Mac just becauce PS cant run on this one when everything else does.  ;D

*EDIT

I couldnt help myself and after this post I recently did another test... Lag is indeed too much to bear. As surplus when I change anything at PS setup, PS crashes after trying to load the world. Tested with two separated PS folders, all the same. Tried to add no grass maps, no good. In short what I wrote up in this post is right.
