everyone knows snorks > smurfs

I decided to say that snorks are way cooler than smurfs. I know its a lie but I guessed that today is opposite day so I thought why not follow the rules  :P

I think Xillix makes lot of polls to have a better understanding of the players in this game. There can never be to many polls.  \\o//  It is refreshing to see someone on the dev team take the time to ask what we think as a community and what would we like in game. I am very happy Xillix has stuck around for the long haul. Your work is much appreciated Xillix, even if there are those who seem ungrateful.

??? Side note: Suno I am pretty disappointed in your outburst. Not everything is about post count. (Might I remind you, you have been known to post alot of spam and useless dead end posts, so I wouldn't be pointing any fingers). On top of that haven't you noticed the changes with the quests over the past year? Heeeeello, who do you think is writing them? XILLIX! Enough with your temper already and start giving credit were credit is due.

SMURFs RULE!

I voted yes.  Xillix should really let someone else make a poll once in a while :P

I would have voted yes if Xillix had made this poll. I thought Xillix was a woman also, somewhat based off of the name and all.

Snorks are the best and need to be a new character. I could make the Snork King, and make 'Snorks United,' and create oodles of miniature cities not described by settings.

Post count +1

I think the silly cartoon character thing is getting a little tired. I suppose it is more acceptable in the plaza than where it first appeared but there doesn't seem to be much point to it. The smurfs seemed to be all about brain-washing little kiddies. I cannot say much about the others but as their origin was similar it would not surprise me if they were the same. In my day cartoons were less about teaching morality and selling kids junk and  more about fun. Perhaps I am again in error but that is how it seems. I do not recall any Magilla lunch boxes or Ricochet Rabbit backpacks.

Just what are they trying to say with all those smurfs and just one smurfette?

Bilbous, usually the way you think scares me a little bit :P but, this time you seriously cracked me up. I agree, the cartoon joke is getting a little tired. Maybe they'll start a poll for what the next joke poll vote option should be. :-X

Oh, and Bilbous, The Smurfs are actually older than Magilla Gorilla. ;)

And apparently there was a Magilla doll for sale, the mega tie-in was in its infancy.

There was an evil smurfette in one episode wasn't there? But I cannot take credit for noticing the imbalance, I am sure someone pointed it out somewhere. Also the tv smurfs seem to bear little resemblance to the original, they seem to have been re-purposed.
A lot of cartoons had adult themes. Hercules (the hero of song and story) was apparently taking sly digs at the coke culture as evidenced by the little straw carrying ( I mean pan flute....) little satyr named Toot and Hercs power ring just big enough for a couple sniffs and his belt beacon when he really wanted to fly.

The Jetsons were cool at the time.

But why do we even need joke poll options? they kind of detract from the poll. I suppose they indicate that the polls are not prescriptive or binding but I think we get it by now. It is hard for team members to not be taken as authoritative when they are just trying to contribute their personal views. In a way it is too bad they are required or encouraged to post in their official personalities for just this reason.

Oh gee look at the time and me still blabbering on...

Yes there was an evil smurfette. This was how smurfette was introduced to the show. The smurfs saved her from Gargamel (who created the evil smufette) and smurfette turned from evil to good. So they were one in the same.

Oh and why can't you people lighten up? Joking about cartoons and other such things is called people having fun, and it is way better than having forums trolls. Or is there a law against making jokes in the forum rules too?  ::|

Keep in mind.  The person who jokingly put "post count +1" in their post would be the kind of people we want in the forums.

It's the kind of people who really do care about post count (i.e. Get really annoyed when others are increasing theirs) that usually end up being trolls.

Just a fun fact :D

And back of moderators/developers.  I thought you people would have learned something after you drove Karyuu away from PlaneShift but, I guess not.  :whistling:

I hope nobody sees any malice of intent in my posts. I am just going with the topics provided. It looks to me that by having these cartoons incongruously inserted into the polls that discussions of cartoons are on topic. As to some of the others stuff I posted I was trying to express sympathy for the position the "staff", if you will, find themselves in.
In that spirit here is magilla and a hilarious ricochet rabbit, the latter in spanish, no less!

All I know is that Xillix' ploy worked ... I actually believe that we're being listened to now. This is why I voted that Snorks rule Smurfs any day :P

Mr. Magoo voiced by Jim Bacchus the billionaire from Gilligans Island was pretty popular as a theatrical short though it was later criticized for being at the expense of the sight impaired. Strange to think theaters actually had cartoons and stuff before the feature and not just advertisements. There seems to have been  real change between the '60's and '70's where the focus went from churning out good citizens to churning out good consumers. Gotta love Madison Avenue for that, eh? Now it is the hard sell all the time, if you ain't buying we're dying.

I realize Xillix has been pretty busy, but with all this polls it just sounds like he's taking on too much at a time. Let's worry about one at a time, not overloading polls and doing everything at once. I don't know exactly how much has changed over the years, but in the past, doing too much at once lead to reimplementing a ton of old bugs for...pretty much no logical reason. Another reason to do things one at a time, instead of going on like before and implementing a haul then finding a ton of bugs that slow things down so heavily that we nearly "go back a version", doing things one at a time and weeding these bugs out ahead of time seems to be a better approach.

Like I said though, I don't know how much it's changed since then. Maybe there won't be any blast-from-the-past bugs returning, I just don't think we should recklessly slow things down anymore by implementing a haul then spending months on bug fixes.

And at that post count comment, I really don't care if someone +1 post counts after saying something, but when it's all their post is composed of, and in a slightly-important thread, I find that disrespectful to the person the post is about. I.E., birthday threads to some certain individuals.
