strange feelings

well, I know that the "usual suspects" will call me a whiner again, but that doesn't bother me anymore.

I'd just like to share some thoughts with you.

My friends, I was without internet for 6 weeks and couldn't play. I tried to follow the forums from my work but haven't read all.

Yesterday then ... it was my first chance to get back into the game, I missed that much.

Well, I logged in ... found myself in Hydlaa-Plaza ... my Buddy-List was all red and I wondered if there had something changed and maybe my Buddy-List was broken or something. Then suddenly a first green name appeared and short time later I found that person at Harnquist.
I thought about my long absence and tried to RP it as a "mystirious desease" that took weeks to be healed.....

We spoke a while and suddenly ... no more answers ...

Well, he still stood right in front of me, but seemed to have gone afk or lost in tells or whatever.

But nevermind I thought ... and left towards the tavern ... I saw some Chars on my way, but all looked somekind of lost ... well ... no known names around ... nothing happening ...

Hydlaa looked as a quiet boring place ....

I went back to Harnquist where I read many, many OOC talking in the main channel ... they used brackets, okay ... but there was not a single IC-Sentence there ... the friend, I talked to before ... still stood in the same place ... lost in tells .... whatever ... he looked bored.

I made my way ... visited the Arena, Magic Shop, went to Oja ... boring
Nothing left of the old PS-Feeling I had known.

I left ...

"So what ?", you will ask ....

Well, I think about leaving the game ....

I will think this over ... Christmas will give me time enough to think about it ... but I'm afraid, I will leave ...
Okay, okay ... I hear you talking .... "Stop whining ... just leave, we don't need you .... "
Yeah, okay ... I just wondered if anyone feels similar ... err ... or maybe some of you can give me some advice to prevent me from leaving ....

by the way ... if I should leave I would have about 120 steel-stock and many other items to give away to someone who deserves it.

Don't worry this will be the only posting about this issue ... I will not bother you anymore with my decision ... and whining ... and if anyone is interested in if I leave or not ... you will have to find it out in game ... or not.

I will visit the forums every now and then ... but ...

It's a hard thing to give advice on. If you lost interest I'd simply stop playing for a while instead of actually leaving, since we all know this is a kind of dramatic thing to do and in my opinion totally unnecessary. Remember that you're playing a game here (though others will likely disagree with me), and this is not your real life. For me Planeshift is still fun to play if you adjust yourself a bit to it, you'll lose some friends on the way but there's always fun in making new ones through roleplay or other things.
Some 2 years ago I thought about quitting too and went all dramatic on people, I thought to myself: what the hell am I doing, this is kinda lame. So I continued playing, lost a lot of good friends over the years since they did feel like leaving, but got some good friends in return: Valbrandr, Induane, Lordbug and all the other people from Vaalnor. If I hadn't met them I probably wouldn't have met such other equally fine people.

My advice is take a break and drop by every once in a while.

This is a particularly busy time of the year for a lot of people. Give it a couple months.

That it is, and wait until the summer holidays, then there'll definitely be more people online (usually). But, if you really really don't feel like meeting any of the cool newbs that do exist, then you don't have to play anymore. We'll all understand.  No hard feelings.

But as it stands, I would love to meet you IG Tolol, as with everyone on this forum.  Who knows? maybe we'll have a good IC conversation.  =)

I have to agree with Jekkar post Tolol.

I recently came back from an eight month break from PlaneShift. It was definitely weird when I went into game and couldn't find anyone I knew. I sat in the tavern had a few roleplays but it just didn't seem the same. I  slowly eased myself back into the game with both my character Zorbels and my Alt's. I don't play like I used to and I don't have the familiarty of the game that I used to but I am making new friends and creating new stories slowly.  I hope you do come back one day Tolol but if not best wishes to you.

Leaving always seems like a kind of drastic and unnecessary action.  You can never play again if you don't feel the need without formally leaving, so why eliminate the possibility?  Sometimes it is healthy to take a break for a while.  Read some books, enjoy the real world.  If you feel like it, come back to PS.  Chances are there will be many new and good characters for you to RP with.

I say leave!  Just to disagree with Jekkar.

So, instead of giving you any advice I'll tell you this.  In the days to come this thread will be less active and then forgotten.  Say what you will, say you are leaving and say that you will never return if you must.  Just remember that nobody will hold you to it and many will welcome you back if you do return.

Good luck in life if I don't see you and may all your dreams, but one, come true.

I will say this to you it is hard to return after being away as Zorbels said. Sometimes even old friends forget. When you do return you will find a whole new game with new people who will play with you and then you will have all new friends and be happy.

I'm most certain I speak for many when I say that at some point all of us have been in this same situation and struggle.  Nostalgia is a flipped coin of chance, one side feeling happy and content to have shared such adventures and having made many friends in the processes... but on the other leaving one feeling lost, bitter with a growing vendetta against all and a wanting to corrupt or destroy all who cross your path!... *coughs*

What I mean to say is, and like those have said above, forge a new path and place amongst the community.  Create a new character and with it will come a new sight and interest.  Keep your existing character/s and bounce between them thus keepings things forever changing and interesting.

No one can look at the sun forever, at times having to avert our gaze else become blind... [/wisemansays]


Of course, if you should find yourself bitter, with hatred and vengeance in your heart... look beneath the skin and you may just find a pulse of vile black blood and putrid heart.  Pay a visit to the Deathrealm and you may just find answers... should you want them enough

Tolol, don't worry it's not just you. I was in game the other night talking with someone and we both agreed Hydlaa has become somewhat dead as of late. what is everyone doing? You check by harn's and if there is anyone there they are just crafting and they usually, not always, ignore any RP attempts, but of course they do they are busy crafting. And the Tavern seems to have run out ale or something as well. It's kinda sad.  I think you just have to put on a smile Tolol and make new friends, go out there and find some RP and if you can't then make your own. don't give up so easy, I am sure it's not that bad, then again I keep being told I have a lot of patience...Also I was gonna say don't yell at Mordraugion . even tho he was joking, if he was not...I mean think about it from his point..do you know how many players a GM deals with in just one day? a week? a month? its not really his fault if he does not remember each and every one all the time, right?  Especially with Mordraugion , you know he's getting old and his memory is not as great as it used to be and all.
