Issue with tutorial
« on: December 30, 2007, 08:20:42 pm »
Ah, i'm still stuck, a great guide you have though.

Neave Besetun says: Ah, I thought so. Good to meet you. I am Neave, but you knew that already, eh?

-Neave chuckles.-

Neave Besetun says:  Before starting, I would like you to practice with item dropping and pickup. You now have a piece of iron ore and I would like you to drop it on the ground, by choosing a place with enough clear ground around you. To drop it, access your inventory, click once on the iron ore, then click once outside the inventory window. You will see it appearing on the ground. Now right-click on the iron ore on the ground and select the pick-up icon, it will appear again in your inventory. Please do this small exercise and let me know when you are ready to continue.

This is the place, after 'Neave chuckes.-', he did not say anything after, on the other hand, if i say 'hello' again, he will say something about me wanting to learn something about Blacksmithing, but that is totally irrelevant to this. And when he says this, there is no valid reply from me which will continue my tutorial, not that I know of, since i've tried for over half an hour.
Please help?

Thanks to everyone.

Yes, i have tried saying 'ready', it's not that i haven't, I think it's because (or the cause of) that the NPC hasn't said what he/she was meant to say next, instead, it just stopped.

Oh, I see.

Could it be that the NPC client went down at that moment? I'm not sure why it would stop mid-dialogue like that.

I am not aware of Neave having anything else to say at that point of the conversation. It is correct that her last line in this part of the conversation would read 'Please do this small exercise and let me know when you are ready to continue.'

The correct steps (as tested today) to pass here are as follows:

- Drop the ore
- Pick up the ore
- Left-click Neave to select her again (this is important, since picking up the ore will have de-selected which npc you were talking to)
- In the NPC communication box, type the phrase 'I am ready to continue'

This should trigger the next response for this tutorial.

I don't think Superclient going down would cause this.  Make sure you have the NPC selected when you are talking to it.

I don't think Superclient going down would cause this.  Make sure you have the NPC selected when you are talking to it.

since quests are stored in the database the npcclient has nothing to do with if quests work or not, you can do quests as long as you have all the materials if the npc client is up or not. all the npc client does is control battle with the npcs not how well they can talk.
