Black screen

Hi,

Sometimes I encounter a black screen while playing. My LCD display monitor goes in sleeping mode and no command respond (even CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE) like if kernel panicked and I have no other choice than pressing the reset button of my computer.

I don't know which information you need, so just ask and I'll give you.

that error log does not tell anything as to why you have crashes. please provide more info what graphics card, distro and other info about your pc.

Sounds like buggy or mis-configured power saving. It might be unrelated to PS, are you actively playing the game, using the mouse and keyboard when it happens? Do you possibly have a Suspend Computer hot key that might accidentally get pressed outside the game?

My graphic drivers are nvidia-glx-new version 100.14.19

It's not a power saving problem, cause I never shut down my computer and every morning the monitor come back from power saving.

If your card does not appear in this [WWW] list of cards known by Ubuntu 7.04 NVIDIA binary drivers (e.g. the 8600GT) then there is no Ubuntu 7.04 supported binary driver. For unsupported workarounds try the links in See Also.

Your card does not appear to be supported by that driver. You may need to compile the one from Nvidia.

Err.... There is something I don't understand though. This driver was installed by Ubuntu 7.10 's restricted manager.

Do you think glxinfo would tell me that if the card weren't supported ?? (I don't say I know the answer)

I would say that you might be right and I might be wrong as you did say 7.10 gutsy but then you also specified Ubuntu not Kubuntu. Perhaps you could ask on the Ubuntu forums for clarification or possibly someone else here will have an idea. I do not seem to be helping and have run out of ideas.

Well, I'm not sure that having KUbuntu or just Ubuntu changes something, but i'll try to know if my card is well supported.
All of this isn't very clear to me.

I assume that if I'm the only one with this kind of problem, that it's necessarily either a driver or hardwar problem from my computer.
