Settings not being saved?

Okay I really hope this has not been discussed before but to be honest I kinda only skimed about looking for it, so if it has been I am sorry. But I've been away for a week and that's a lot of posts to catch up on as well. But anyways:
I've started to have this weird problem where all the sudden whenever I log on my settings are messed up. As in I am always in first person camera view and my distance is set way down and just little annoying stuff like that. It used to save my preferences but now all the sudden it does not. I have asked someone else and he said that did not happen to him. can I fix this? I mean its not horrible..but it sure is annoying thanks.

If I'm not mistaken it depends on the way you shut your game down.

Are you by any chance playing in windowed mode and closing it down by closing the window? Try to just shut it down with the ingame exit button and see if your settings stay changed then?

Closing Planeshift by just using the red closing button from Windows has the exact same effect as using the in-game closing button, so that can't cause it.

yeah thanks but I don't think that's it. I use the X in the menu bar most the time unless it seems to take to long then I close it and tell it to end program but thats not it. hmm okay well thanks. Its just really annoying it used to save the settings, but no one else is having this issue hmm? and yes for the record Windows XP.

Check the settings of the Planeshift folder on your hard drive, does your account have write access?
