Trouble downloading
« on: January 16, 2008, 06:02:57 am »
Hello everyone. I'm having a problem with downloading the game. I download the U.S. mac version, it downloads fully, but when I try to open it from the downloads window, it takes me to disk utility, where I am unsure what to do. It won't let me drag the download into aplications. I found another copy i had downloaded and moved it into applications, but it too just brought me to disk utility. I have created and verified an account, and I run mac osx tiger on a 17-inch macbook pro. any ideas?

Ok, so I've figured out the problem. somewhere along the line I switched the default opener to disk utility. The problem is I'm not sure what to switch it back to! anyone know?

Ctrl-click on the disk image icon and navigate the context menu thusly:
Open with > Other...

Here, type a forward slash (/), then put the location in the box "/System/Library/CoreServices".

Press return or click the "Go" button.  Select DiskImageMounter.app, check the checkbox next to "Always Open With"...

...and click the Open button.  The image should mount a volume on your desktop.  Copy its contents to the Applications folder. :)

I tried that, and I got the following message

Warning

the following disk images failed to mount

planeshift_CBVO.3.020 not recognized

I tried opening it both inside and outside the applications folder with the same message

It's also worth noting that the application you told me to set it to open with was not a "recomended application" and I had to select all applications to use it. this didn't seem to be the case in your screenshot

I can't use anything I download until I get this figured out! plz help!

Make sure you have the full file. It may be that the download didn't finish. Try redownloading it.

no, it did not. neither did the heroes v path 1.6 I downloaded that I am having identical problems with.

why would the extenstion be gone?

anyways, I deleted all copies of planeshift and I'm re-downloading it.

Thanks for the help thus far, keep it coming plz!
