When I joined PS, my soon to be "mentors" of the guild I joined told me one thing. "Be at home in the guild you choose" They didn't pressure me or bug me with requests, and it was all handled in a very suitable RP manner. That is the best advice in joining a guild. Hold out and find a guild that really is "home."  Read up on the RPs and requirements and actually go to guild yourself who you feel support the type of gameplay experience you want to have. Sorry if this was mentioned before.... I didn't read it all :S

Choosing a guild is easy!

You have a character. Your character wants something. Look around for the guild who shares your character's goals and methodology better and integrate it.

The trick is looking around right: you need to check the Forums to get a general feel, then check in-game to evaluate players, they will be your guild mates in the future, so you better like them. Also, noting their activity is important.

Have fun!

I'll make it even simpler... If you're magic-oriented, you join the Arcane Brotherhood... If you're not, you join the Dark Empire. End of story.

Because everyone is jealous of the Empire and wants to secretly destroy them. :P

That's just one of the reasons. Another one is that fact that we don't consider people to be Cannon Fodder. *shiny grin*

Hmmm. I'm thinking of creating a sticky with links to some tutorials about Guilds in general. Currently we have little more than two documents explaining and aiding in Guild affairs.
If anyone would be willing to write something good about this topic, I could probably have it included...
