Ok, I was inspired to start an art thread by a recent discussion on
Yliaki literature. While thinking about the different artistic expressions in Yliakum, I realized there are no public spaces for them yet. So I decided to give it a try with some concepts. I can draw a little more than stick figures but I've never really had any real training so my technique is flawed in many ways. Just bare with the imperfections. I can't do 3D, so if anyone wants to give it a try, please do and post your work in this thread as well.
Here's a first draft based on the gazebo by the Laanx temple. The idea is that this could be a public mini-stage for theater, dance and other performances. The screen would act as a background, creating a "behind the scenes" space for the artists. There could be different motives on each side (here's a forest, the other one could be a city view) so the artists could use the one that best suit their performance. I suppose they would need a wagon nearby to change their costumes and whatnot (but that's their producer's job, not the Vigesimi's).

Here's an unfinished drawing of a traveling troupe wagon. They would park it near the gazebo. It pulls a small platform that can unfold into a small plain stage for street performances.

For this sketch I was inspired by the Nolthrir. I figured they would have some sort of water dance, similar to synchronized swimming or "underwater gymnastics". The idea is that the spectators would climb the stairs up to both platforms above and lay down on their stomachs looking into the pool (notice the hole on the lower platform is larger than the other one).
The show is meant to be appreciated in a 90ยบ angle from above. I know, not really comfy but the show would be worth it

. Since it's an elven performance, I think the stage would be very organic. One thing I would like to change (but I had already inked that part so I couldn't edit it) is the pool wall. Elves would have decorated it so it shouldn't be plain stone. I'm thinking paint instead of carvings. Finally, the hanging balls are little lamps for a soft, elfish lighting effect at night, especially if the stage is set in the middle of a forest.
Btw, drawing the stairs was a nightmare.

Well, I hope you liked it. I'll be posting more stuff when I get a chance, hopefully soon.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that in the dome of the Nolthrir stage is translucent, so that's why you can see through it a little in the sketch. It may be made with stained glass, crystals, or a flexible web or screen of algae or scales.
