Crash Report

The game used to crash once in a while when I entered an area that had to loaded.  I took a walk through the "marble" hallways to the large castle in the center of an open area and went into the castle.  Now the game crashes whenever I load it.  Here's the crash report.  Feel free to ask for any other information.  This problem didn't happen with the 0.3020 version.

A little bit more information.  I managed to escape from the castle after a couple of times if the game crashing.  It seems as if it crashed there when an NPC was being loaded in.

Game keeps crashing a various different times however.  Maybe I just need a way to turn down the graphics?

Attempted to "turn down" graphics by using PSSetup and changing color depth to 16 bit, but game still crashes.   :@#\

OK, I went to http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=31743.0 which I probably should have done right away.

I already had added

Video.OpenGL.Shader.Cg.Enable.Fragment=false
Video.OpenGL.Shader.Cg.Enable.Vertex=false

to the bottom of psclient.cfg but didn't remove the ; from the line: ;Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_ARB_texture_compression  = false at data/config/r3dopengl.cfg.  I just did this so bow maybe everything will work.   :( Sorry.  Feel free to delete this post if you want.

I followed all of the instructions in the README file.  Game just crashed again.  I'll try replacing the files to see if that helps.

I have a iMac.  Running OSX 10.4 (Tiger) and have Raedon X-1600 graphics card from ATI. I've done all of the suggestions I found on this forum but noting seems to work so far.  As I said, I'll try your suggestion and see it it helps.

I read through all of the forums concerning Macs that crash and did everything that people said.  At least as to what I'm technologically capable of (which isn't a whole lot).  Yes, I suppose it is possible that I missed something.

The problem happens when I enter an area that has a lot of graphics on the screen.  right now I'm trying to enter the plaza and the game crashes within 30 seconds.  And by "crash" I mean the game shuts down completely - not just a screen freeze.

I reset my screen size to 800 x 600 and reduced the color depth to 16 bit.  I added the lines

Video.OpenGL.Shader.Cg.Enable.Fragment=false
Video.OpenGL.Shader.Cg.Enable.Vertex=false

to the psclient.cfg file.  I changed

;Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_ARB_texture_compression  = false

to

Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_ARB_texture_compression  = false

Read README.osx and followed instructions.

Did not replace the gldrivers.xml file with what was on faramann.net/psO4 because the new contents didn't look anything like the original xml file.

Maybe I missed something.   Maybe it's just my machine.  Had no problems with Crystal Blue though.

I am having crashes too. The client just shuts down. - I have the ATI 1600 Graphics card - iMac. I did do the changes suggested (without them the system freezes up)

looks to me like different shader issues then the bug as before, We will have to wait for Trymm to review and comment.

Hmmm.  It appears that a change was made to the new version that causes ATI 1600 Raedon graphic cards on iMacs to have an occasional nervous breakdown.  :)

I'll admit that Macs aren't best know for playing games.  I use mine mainly for graphic and web design.  But I'm not going to go out and buy a PC just to so I can play a video game - no matter how awesome this one is.

Have the same issues as above, using a Imac 20" 2.1Ghz intel Core 2 Duo and the great ATI graphics card.
Tryed to keep an eye arround to see if other people did something like magic. But even at the most quiet spot arround this seems to happen.

Sometimes I can stay in game for over 15min, sometimes only for 30sec. It seems to be very random.
And Yes I have tryed all posible fixes.

BTW I'm not totaly sure but I don't think the compression fix is not needed anymore. I have tryed many times but
enabled or disabled doesn't make a diference. Except the graphics look some better when it's enabled.

I tryed the old windows/magic bug now.. Disable Vertex Buffer Object..
And so far so good it seemed to help until the server crashed.
I'm not sure if it did.. (I need to go to see my bed  :P)

So please try the following:

So start "pssetup" from the application folder
change vertex from "default" to "off"
And try again..

I have been able to stick on for atleast 40min without a client crash (until the server crashed).
With running arround oja from one area to the other, spelling magic, seeing many other characters running arround.

Current client config changes for me:

-Applyed the fix to avoid a system freeze (See intel ATI bug)
       Video.OpenGL.Shader.Cg.Enable.Fragment=false
       Video.OpenGL.Shader.Cg.Enable.Vertex=false

-Disabled the compression (So far it's still disabled but no diference)

-And as last.. I did the above wich seemed to help.

But please confirm this, I need to go to bed badly.  ;) Please test it and see if it works, and keep us posted.
