Problems with mining?

I realized that I don't get any practice points for successfull mining when I am digging for f.e. iron or silver ore, although I have trained the skill Mining (so that the bar is green). I have digged about 15 ores so far and my mining skill didn't change a bit. The System tab only says that I have gained some experience points, but it says nothing about practice points.
This problem started with the new release 4.00. Today I have heard of someone who seems to have the same problem with training the sword skill.
Is this an (already known) general problem/bug or am I just doing something wrong?

I have misunderstood you then, sorry. But someone else already made a bugreport for this problem
