PsClient.exe Stopped Working- Vista
« on: March 07, 2008, 06:02:59 pm »
Ok this is kinda weird but, im a fairly new player to planeshift and i downloaded it about 2 weeks ago. I loved the game it was brilliant. But then my computer got to slow so i had is swiped. Therefore i need to re-download planeshift.

Ok the problem is i just finished installing it (the steel blue version)

and the client wont work instead comes up a box saying....

Ps client has stopped working, windows is checking for a solution.

Then the solution never came.

This also happens with the updater.

I have windows Vista (on which is used to work)
I definatly have all the requirments eg video card, free space ect...
Does anyone know whats wrong ?

Thank You !

are you both administrator? or do you have a "limited" access to your computer ?

I just fixed my problem lol. It was already admin privileges, but I ran it in XP compatibility mode, and it worked fine. FreshAsh: Go to the shortcut that you use to launch PS and go under the tab "compatibility" and select Run as Administrator and Run in compatibility mode for XP SP2.

You shouldn't have to do the Win XP compatability part.

Also, after you install if you run the updater it should fix the need for the run as admin part as well. Note, when you first run the updater you will need to run it as administrator, but after the updates everything should be fixed privilege wise.

Either way, I am glad you got everything working, and welcome to PlaneShift. :)

Neko,

I have vista on several machines and have run both Steel Blue and the previous release without having to do that. Not sure if that answers your question. :) Tested on Vista Business and Vista Home (Basic and Premium).

Find out what graphics card your computer has - usually you'll see it mentioned where you adjust your screen resolution - and then download the free driver update from the manufacturer that made your card :) The big ones are ATI and Nvidia (and just add a .com for their websites); anything else you might have to Google for. If you like more detailed help, just post back with the card you have and someone will find you the appropriate link.
