Hmm... My views on marriage and the ability to have children? Well, here they are.

I agree with Ravenmaster that having children NPCs pop out of nowhere contributes nothing to the enviroment. I half agree with him with the opinion that you can choose to become someones child. However, I would like to see how the \'father\' feels when the \'son/daughter\' suddenly starts begging for their cool sword of uberness. Now, it would be better if someone could choose where they would like to pop up instead of popping up in a remote location where someone decided to build a house. Also, I would like to know how a person chooses which house they want to pop up in. As the game attracts more and more people, there will possibly be more marriages, and a new player who suddenly decides to become a \'child\' is staring at the screen, wondering who\'s house to pop up in. This may have been discussed, but I am in a state of nervousness because someone in my house is rather annoying because of jumproping in the same room as I am. Anyway, this is not the best post I can make, but here it is.

2. The ability to get married and have children.

This would be fun and increase Role-Play. I am DEFINITELY NOT saying that there should be sex or anything like it in this game! When a couple get married a random amount of time will pass and they will have a character who is 17 years of age pop right into their home.  Before you can get married to anyone you must have some sort of home, which can be anything ranging from a small shack to whatever PS accomadates, I say this because I dont see the need for much restrictions on getting married in the game. Here is an example, there is a couple who plan on getting married, they are both rogues and neither own a home. So they can just buy or make a small house to live in. The character, who pops into their home will be controlled by a person who chose to be a child of someone. When the person is creating a character he cannot choose who he wants to be a child of. The decision will be random. The parents can choose whether or not they want their son to inhereit anything from them when they either die or after a specified amount of time.

I added a few more changes to this idea. Tell me what you think and how it might be improved.

The idea of getting married in a MMORPG sounds pretty gay to me. Let\'s just battle, shall we?

Not everyone wants to battle Niber there are a lot of ppl that dont want to battle AT ALL! There will not be Pking in planeshift. The only place where you can PvP is in an arena or in a guild war. Please! no more going off topic we are currently talking about being able to get married and have children in PS. Check the post above about this subject.

Maybe my post were a little simple but I think I made my point. Do we really want romans in games? It\'s not like those who chose woman characters is woman gender IRL. I know it\'s just a game but I get disgusted about the idea.

But the rest of the ideas was good, hope the programers can do something about it.

Well, Niber, you wouldn\'t need to have a gay marriage. You could have a heterosexual marriage, you know.

I think things like marriage could best be done by strictly role-playing.  Two characters say they want to be \'married\', so they are.  You don\'t need extra programming to have a ritual about it.  As for children, well, when I think about it, it\'s not that great of an idea. I mean, a child could pop up when neaither parent is online, and then when they log on, there\'s just someone in their house.  Parenting could also be done by just role-playing.  You adopt someone as your son or daughter, and they are. It\'s magic! The magical magic of the digital world!

There is a little game called \"Ultima online\" (if you havn\'t heard of this you\'re either blind, deaf, new to gaming, or a genre-freak). UO proves that marriage and love in a game works great, and that being a warrior isn\'t the only way to have fun in a game.

4. Designing unique weapons and armor.

In the new Star Wars MMORPG, you can specialize into weapons-making. You basically get more weapons-making experience the more frequent people use your items.

Your items also have your own signature on them, so if you created a lot of quality items, people will learn to recognize your logo... like Nike shoes.

I think that rules-wise, weapons-making can be about combining unique items (like a regular sword + rune). This enchants the sword. The quality depends on the regular sword and the rune.... Runes can be bought from vendors, or can be dropped rarely by monsters.

This is more weapons-enchanting, but the idea is similar to weapons-making.

Why would runes be objects?  It makes more sense that you would just have a runecrafting skill and carve in the runes yourself.  I mean, seriously, how are you going to stick a rock with a rune on it into a sword?

On the marriage, children, and aging topic,

NPC children are unnecessary, marriage can just be role-played and doesn\'t need extra programming.

If the devs decided to put aging in the game, then choosing to be someone\'s child can be role-played as well, and needs no extra programming. When you start and you\'re a child you can RP it as you are someone\'s child and they can RP as your father, I don\'t see any reason why it would have to be \'implemented\' into the game.

Of course that would all depend on whether there is aging or not. I personally also like the idea of aging, but I think the amount of time the user is logged onto the server should decide. You could just have 3-4 different skin textures (with hair colour), and once the player reaches a certain amount of time on the server, the texture switches to the next one. Since it\'s the amount of time logged in, someone who plays all the time will age faster than someone who doesn\'t.

On the unique weapons-making topic,

I think this is a good idea, and also the unique logo is neat.
When you kill a monster you should get some sort of item off of them. Like if you kill a wild boar, you get a hide. If you kill an insect, you get an insect shell, if you kill a bird, you get feathers, etc...

Then you could take these items to someone who has a very high level of weapon-making and pay them to make you a nice weapon, or take them to someone who has a high level in tailoring and get them to make you nice armour, or take them to someone who can make magical items etc....

Then you could also have a hunter/trader class where they hunt and supply these craftsmen with hides, etc... for them to make weapons to sell in their shops. Hunters would make money selling to craftsmen who make money selling to players.

So, you could find the materials to make weapons and bring them to the weapons-maker, and get it made for a good price, or buy a pre-made weapon from them for a little more.

What does a bump smell like? What kind of term is that? \"I smell a bump.\" Bah!
Hehe... I agree completely with fungku. He seems to have completely reiterated my points that no one seemed to have noticed before.
