Guild Armors

Main Idea

One day in Planeshift, walking along the road to Hydlaa from Ojaveda, and carefully skirting the local dangerous fauna, My clan mates and I began to talk. At first, it was the usual, discussions about the animals and jobs in Yliakum, and generally just paling around. Then, the subject of our uniform was brought up. The Imperial Guard, the Steel Force of the Dark Empire, has a specific uniform for it's members, but right now we can only display that in the description's section. So, we thought of a solution.

Each guild, if it wants to, should be able to pay, say....ten thousand tria, to add a feature to their guild house. A special shop, unique to each guild. This shop will contain armors and weapons customized by the clan itself, and entirely unique to the guild. This apparel and weaponry can contain the emblem of the guild, a special coloring selected by the guild, or both. Such as a shield. The outer part of the shield would look like any other, but in the center, ringed by shining steel, an emblem of the guild could be displayed, proudly marking that individual as a member of his or her guild. Indeed, the armor as well. Ranks could be displayed on the armor, the emblem as well, marking the rank as well as the guild, in addition to the title in their name. Weapons like swords could be specially engraved with a pattern or the handle and hilt marked somehow, even the name of the sword. Weapons such as spears and pikes could have a banner or some such flying from the shaft. Helmets, while fairly limited, could have some degree of customization as well. As for price, the armor could be free for guild members, or cost the same as other armors. Possibly more, due to the unique look.

The sense of camaraderie and unity among the clans would increase, fellow members could recognize each other by garb and armament, and react as such. Individuals could better identify factions in the world, and so on. And who says it has to be limited by the placement in a guild? It could be possible to place public places like this, such as dyers or special armor makers. More expensive than just buying the armor as is, but it can mark you as a individual.

More Ideas

We also tossed about a few more ideas as well. Such as being able to meld armors together, and use different metals to make them. Such as chain mail affixed with light plate as well. Or leather affixed with plate, chain affixed with leather, and so forth. Elemental armors came into play as well, but something like that would required writing up many new things, for the developers you see, and could possibly unbalance the fell of....Life.....in the game.

Methods of acquisition

In addition to the special shop method, the acquisition of said items could be done through the completion of a singly large quest. In the end, the user would be given the uniform and choice of weaponry to use as they see fit. Othe rthan that, you have me here. I do not know.

Summary

So, our ideas consist of:

-Specially customized armors unique to each guild, acquired by varying methods
-Armor being able to be grafted together to form combinations.
-The addition of guild emblems and colors.

Excellent ideas with a neat presentation, and yet we have heard these before.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

I do hope all these are coming ... otherwise I don't see much to discuss what hasn't already been talked about.

Ah, thanks, prompt notice too. My apologies, but I didn't know the ideas had been suggested before, I didn't really take the time to look for it.  X-/

Nice ideas, but to be honest, there are races with missing models, maps with flaws and many other ahnds if you use the current game mechanics you can have a pretty impressing apprearance. I guess you missed occasions where members of the hammers used to have a guild uniform. But if you walk in larger groups where all members wear the same items, shields and armor the visual impact is pretty large and the attention grabing effect too. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have special hammers and a shield of the hammer for my guildies. I love the idea, but I have little hope that we see it soon(tm)
