Monsters Re-Spawns
« on: March 31, 2003, 11:21:17 am »
Well, I was thinking about Monster Re-Spawns, yes they will RE-SPAWN of course so there is at least something to kill but this is my suggestion:::

Random Nest/Monster Re-Spawns :::

The monsters in-game will re-spawn but the thing is, will they re-spawn in the same area? I mean, if you find a monster, like a zombie, and you kill it, then in re-spawns in the same area and more zombie\'s respawn in that area, so you run away, and you memorize that area and stay AWAY from that area until you are strong enough to kill the zombies.

I was thinking, random monster re-spawns, you kill a zombie in one area, a new one re-spawns somewhere else RANDOMLY around that grave yard / forest / whatever kind of setting you would think about. Like you kill a Treant in one part of the forest(walking talking killing tree) then it re-spawns at another part of the forest.

And also with nests, you are walking around some forest and you find a nest of Swamp Rats, you kill the rats, and the nest, then a new Swamp Rat Nest re-spawns at another swampy area of the forest. You guys get what I mean?

Whaddya guys think?

I don\'t like the traditional re-spawning at all. It\'s completely unrealistic when players kill monsters, then wait for 5 mins, then they kill them again just to gain XP.
I like the \"nest\" idea better. The nests could be huge and pop up randomly on the map.

Example  - The city of \"Grin\" lies in the middle of a cave- desert. It\'s a peaceful, happy city with no troubles at all. However, one day a huge scorpion-nest pops up from nowhere and the scorpions start attacking the citizens. The king of town offers a great reward to the one who destroys the nest. A group of adventurers is willing to do it, however they must hurry before the scorpions grows too many and destroys \"Grin\".

This will add some \"random quests\" to PS as well.

But if the scorpions grow too many and destroy Grin, then is there just a huge mob of scorpions in a certain area that is impossible to extinguish \'cause they just KEEP GETTING BIGGER?
You are here,
You will always be here,
You will never be there.
Although you may strive to get there,
upon reaching there you will realize you are really here.
And there is everywhere else.

Of course not. It shouldn\'t be impossible, even if it takes a long time to extinguish them.
Remember there is always someone stronger, so sooner or later the nest will be destroyed by monsterhunters.
Imagine that the monsterhunters are traveling through the destroyed town which is now a \"ghost-town\" without any living creatures (exept for the scorpions of course). It would add a lot of feeling to the game.
It would be boring if the world was an idyll. ;)
