every 5 minutes or so my comp is suddenly no longer connected to the server. meanwhile all my other internet activities are running smooth. what could be wrong?

you might be too far away from the router so you are disconnecting too often for the game to keep connection but are fine for web browsing

I think I have read somewhere that the wireless connection is not suitable for gaming. So it could be good to switch to a wired one when you have this problem. In any case a wired connection would be more stable.

Also try checking your firewall settings..
