Windows XP: When I open PS OpenGL, it says I have no hardware accelera

Whenever I open up PS in OpenGL mode, it says that I have no hardware acceleration. Then something pops up that psclient.exe has experienced a problem, then I have to close it. Any ideas?

I\'m getting the exact same error.  Can\'t seem to figure it out either.  Someone please help.

not the only one, i have the same problem   X( can only play in slowwwww mode, which is really too slow to play anyway

Sometimes another OpenGL application seems to take all the resources so PS believes there is no 3D accelerator in your machine. Killing those apps (3D software, other games, etc...) solves the problem usually. Then this problem may appear in other cases too, but I have no suggestions for when this happens.

I have the same problem, and I have a GeForce 2 MX 64 MB. I know that NetMeeting often disturbs when playing games, but I don\'t have any program that might use any 3D resources. And this is the only game ever where I\'ve had this problem.

Well, I\'m not a win user, but I don\'t want to convince you of linux here (well actually I want but...however)

On Windows you should make sure that you have recent drivers installed for your card some of those drivers allow you to change between OpenGL, and normal mode for win (don\'t know if that has any influence on the game).

Furthermore all unnecessary toys should be deactivated, especially on XP just let run the most necessary things like virus scanner and firewall.

If it doesn\'t work try to shut your computer down, switch your computer off and on again (no ctrl-alt-del or restart).

I\'ve just installed version 2.010 and the problem still persist... sigh . I\'ve also tried to look in the config files for openGL and geforce in the \\data\\config folder but i didn\'t found anything related with it.

I also made a printscreen to see what the program wrote before the graphic window... here is the message:

no CEL environment  variable set!
Using alternative 3d driver: crystalspace.graphics3d.opengl


maybe it\'s related with the problem???

What gfx card do you have and what version (number and date) of the gfx driver software are you using?

ASUS geforce1 32mb.

i\'ve just seen that after my last format i didn\'t reinstalled the detonator so by now it works with the standard winxp nvidia driver. i\'ll install detonator now and i will say u if the problem solves.

ok with the detonator drivers the problem is solved. it was probally linked to the use of winxp video driver for nvidia

Another thing that was causing me grief over the \'no hardware acceleleration\' was I was running dual monitors from my radeon 9700.  It won\'t work unless you disable the secondary monitor.
