Port Forwarding
« on: April 29, 2008, 06:01:41 pm »
Hello!

Can you please tell me what port PlaneShift uses by default? I want to set up port forwarding through my router...

Thanks.

Forwarding a specific port is not necessary, from my experience. I play PlaneShift in different kinds of NAT routed networks. Outgoing UDP must be possible, as well as listening to UDP returning to the same local port. The local port may be any random, temporary port. The server port on laanx.fragnetics.com used to be 7777 in the last years.

In theory the forwarding is necessary, but actually all routers/firewalls I know can do kind of UDP connection tracking, so they know to return the packets from fragnetics to your client.
.....also a saddle that won't pinch the tail. One day!

It's like: "If you opened the door from the inside, I'll keep it open for a while so that you may return."
