R.E.M. - Everybody Hurts

When the day is long and the night, the night is yours alone,
When you're sure you've had enough of this life, well hang on
Don't let yourself go, 'cause everybody cries and everybody hurts sometimes

Sometimes everything is wrong. Now it's time to sing along
When your day is night alone, (hold on, hold on)
If you feel like letting go, (hold on)
When you think you've had too much of this life, well hang on

'Cause everybody hurts. Take comfort in your friends
Everybody hurts. Don't throw your hand. Oh, no. Don't throw your hand
If you feel like you're alone, no, no, no, you are not alone

If you're on your own in this life, the days and nights are long,
When you think you've had too much of this life to hang on

Well, everybody hurts sometimes,
Everybody cries. And everybody hurts sometimes
And everybody hurts sometimes. So, hold on, hold on
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on
Everybody hurts. You are not alone

Well, since we're in off topic, this is something I wrote a few years back when I was heavily into Baldur's Gate fan fiction.  If you remember and played the game, this may mean something to you and might be a short trip down memory lane, otherwise, sorry, you won't get much of the dialog.  Thought I'd share it here anyway since I used one of my favorite Rush tunes to wrapper it all up.

Title:  Images: Available Light

The restless wind
Has seen all things
In every kind of light
Rising with the full moon
To go howling through the night

The sleepless wind
Has heard all things
Between the sea and sky
In the canyons of the city
You can hear the buildings cry

Oh the wind can carry
All the voices of the sea
Oh the wind can carry
All the echoes home to me

So many days since we first were captured by the shark men.  The petty squabble they entwined me in left me with no clear choice of good.  Was I to kill them all, take sides vs. one evil of lesser quantity than the other, or simply leave them to their fate?  So many voices in my head that lead to decisions of disgrace.  What would my decisions leave me with were they known by the men and women who travel the sea?  Would I secure passage again to any place if all knew I helped a sworn enemy of humanity to live once more?  Would the souls of those dragged beneath the waves cry to me for their vengeance?

Run with wind and weather
To the music of the sea
All four winds together
Can’t bring the world to me
Chase the wind around the world
I want to look at life
In the available light

And now we stand in darkness, where twilight has no meaning.  No seascape to look out over.  No sunrise to reflect off its waves.  No light at all, except the eerie twinkling of phosphorous that seeps from the many cracks and crevices of the caves.  And somewhere above and far away, is home.  Would that I could reach it now, and stand within its freshness.

I see the images of home in my mind.  Even those of the bloodied halls of my beloved Candlekeep suffice.  Anywhere but here in the Underdark.  We must secure passage to the surface before I lose myself.  Jaheira complains of the stifling nature of this place, yes, even here in the bowls of her beloved earth.  We both are becoming someone else in this place, and it worries me.

Play of light
A photograph
The way I used to be
Some half-forgotten stranger
Doesn’t mean that much to me

Trick of light
Moving picture
Moments caught in flight
Make the shadows darker
Or the colors shine too bright

Oh the light can carry
All the visions of the sea
Oh the light can carry
All the images to me

The locket.  I hold it in my hand and look at the image it holds.  Jaheira’s beauty radiates throughout it and leaves me with feelings of strangeness.  I look at the blue neck the trinket now drapes upon and the way the gold plays against her skin.  Who is she?  Is Jaheira still in there?  Am I there anymore?  Who is this owner of these faces that look back at me?  Jaheira the half-eleven fighter I fell so strongly in love with, or Vusta, the drow that begs to be my master, as others of her imagined heritage have claimed.  I remember the actions of buying her the locket, yet now the image it holds only looks back at me hollowly.

‘We shall not know who we are until we walk a mile in another man’s shoes.’  I heard those words once, but never knew I would fulfill them in such a way.  Shall I leave my old self behind for this new person?  Shall I embrace this new image, and see if it can fill the hole that claims more of me each day?

My hands are not my own.  My skin is not of my birthright.  My soul no longer travels with me, stolen by another even less worthy of it than myself.  Yet I find myself longing for destruction, to feel the power of this new identity.

Run to light from shadow
Sun gives me no rest
Promise offered in the east
Broken in the west
Chase the sun around the world
I want to look at life
In the available light

All four winds together
Can’t bring the world to me
Shadows hide the play of light
So much I want to see
Chase the light around the world
I want to look at life...

In the available light

Available Light

Hawthorne Heights - Ohio Is For Lovers
(Modern Rock... Dunno. Lyrics from www.lyricsmode.com.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADfPvO0HAzg&feature=related

Hey there
I know it's hard to feel like I don't care at all
Where you are and how you feel
With these lights off as these wheels
Keep rolling on and on
(And on and on and on)
Slow things down or speed them up
Not enough or way too much
(And on and on and on)
How are you when I'm gone?

And I can't make it on my own
(And I can't make it on my own)
Because my heart is in Ohio

So cut my wrists and black my eyes
(Cut my wrists and black my eyes)
So I can fall asleep tonight, and die
Because you kill me
You know you do, you kill me well
You like it too, and I can tell
You never stop until my final breath is gone

Spare me just three last words
"I love you" is all she heard
I'll wait for you, but I can't wait forever

Spare me just three last words
"I love you" is all she heard
I'll wait for you, but I can't wait forever

And I can't make it on my own
(And I can't make it on my own)
Because my heart is in Ohio

So cut my wrists and black my eyes
(Cut my wrists and black my eyes)
So I can fall asleep tonight, and die
Because you kill me
You know you do, you kill me well
You like it too, and I can tell
You never stop until my final breath is gone

You(you) know you do, you kill me well (kill)
You like it too, and I can tell (me)
You never stop until my (well)final breath is gone

So cut my wrists(you) and black my eyes (kill)
My final breath is gone(me)
So I can fall asleep tonight (well)
And I can't make it on my own
(And I can't make it on my own)
Because my heart is in Ohio

So cut my wrists and black my eyes (cut my wrists and black my eyes)
So I can fall asleep tonight, and die
Because you kill me
You know you do you kill me well
You like it to and I can tell
You never stop until my final breath is gone

You know you do you kill me well
You like it to and I can tell
You never stop until my final breath is gone

AFI - Death of Season

Of late, it's harder just to go outside
To leave this deadspace with hatred, so alive
Writhing with sickness, thrown into banality, I decay
Killed by the weakness, but forced to return, turn it off

I watch the stars as they fall from the sky
I held a fallen star and it wept for me, dying
I feel the fallen stars encircle me, now as they cry

Out there so quickly grows malignant tribes
Posthuman extinction excels unrecognized
Feeling surrounded, so bored with mortality, I decay
All of this hatred is [expletive deleted] real, turn it on... yeah

I watch the stars as they fall from the sky
I held a fallen star and it wept for me, dying
I feel the fallen stars encircle me, now as they cry

It won't be all right despite what they say
Just watch the stars tonight as they, as they disappear, disintegrate
And I disintegrate 'cause this hate is [expletive deleted] real
And I hope to shade the world as stars go out and I disintegrate
"Here's to lowering caskets of old friends choice and consequence we'll birth a new day with the death of an old and start over, start over.  Here's to burying hatchets in those who you'd never call your friend...we'll birth a new day with the death of an old day and start over, start over!"

Panic! at the Disco - I Write Sins Not Tragedies
(I have no clue what genre this is. One website said it was pop-punk, the other said rock, so to hell with it. <.< Lyrics from www.lyricsmode.com.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kkbTNmg40c

Oh, well imagine, as I'm pacing the pews in a church corridor,
And I can't help but to hear, no I can't help but to hear an exchanging of words:
"What a beautiful wedding! What a beautiful wedding!" says a bridesmaid to a waiter.
"Oh yes, but what a shame, what a shame, the poor groom's bride is a whore."

I'd chime in with a "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.
I'd chime in, "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of...

Well in fact, well I'll look at it this way, I mean technically our marriage is saved
Well this calls for a toast, so pour the champagne
Oh! Well in fact, well I'll look at it this way, I mean technically our marriage is saved
Well this calls for a toast, so pour the champagne, pour the champagne

I'd chime in with a "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.
I'd chime in, "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.

Again...

I'd chime in, "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.
I'd chime in, "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.

Again...

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Hard to choose the favorite ones... It'd have to be one of these :P

Turisas - Cursed Be Iron

Curses on thee, cruel iron
Curses on the steel thou givest
Curses on thee, tongue of evil
Cursed be thy life forever!

Once thou wert of little value
Having neither form nor beauty
Neither strength nor great importance
When in form of milk thou rested
When for ages thou wert hidden
In the breasts of God's three daughters
Hidden in their heaving bosoms
On the borders of the cloudlets
In the blue vault of the heavens

Thou wert once of little value
Having neither form nor beauty
Neither strength nor great importance
When like water thou wert resting
On the broad back of the marshes
On the steep declines of mountains
When thou wert but formless matter
Only dust of rusty color

Curses on thee, cruel iron
Curses on the steel thou givest
Curses on thee, tongue of evil
Cursed be thy life forever!

Surely thou wert void of greatness
Having neither strength nor beauty
When the moose was trampling on thee
When the roebuck trod on thee
And the bear-paws scratched thy body

Surely thou hadst little value
When the skilful Ilmarinen
First of all the iron-workers
Brought thee from the blackened swamp-lands
Took thee to his ancient smithy
Placed thee in his fiery furnace

Truly thou hadst little vigor
Little strength, and little danger
When thou in the fire wert hissing
Rolling forth like seething water
From the furnace of the smithy
When thou gavest oath the strongest

By the furnace, by the anvil
By the rongs, and by the hammer
By the dwelling of the blacksmith
By the fire within the furnace

Curses on thee, cruel iron
Curses on the steel thou givest
Curses on thee, tongue of evil

Now forsooth thou hast grown mighty
Thou canst rage in wildest fury
Thou hast broken all thy pledges
All thy solemn vows hast broken
Like the dogs thou shamest honor
Shamest both thyself and kindred
Tained all with breath of evil

Tell who drove thee to this mischief
Tell who taught thee all thy malice
Tell who gavest thee thine evil!
Tell me! Now tell me!

Did thy father, or thy mother
Did the eldest of thy brothers
Did the youngest of thy sisters
Did the worst of all thy kindred

Not thy father, nor thy mother
Not the eldest of thy brothers
Not the youngest of thy sisters
Not the worst of all thy kindred

But thyself hast done this mischief
Thou the cause of all our trouble
Come and view thine evil doings
And amend this flood of damage
Curses on thee, cruel iron
Curses on the steel thou givest
Curses on thee, tongue of evil
Cursed be thy life forever!

Vintersorg - Matrix Odyssey

"With whom shall I have this dialogue?
The mad, the noble, the wit?
The past lurks under layers of fog,
Evolution's hall is unlit

Thoughts and visions confuse,
Mental wounds start to grow
But the questions never reduce
About the anonymous cosmic shadow"

This demon keeps my conscious awake
From sleep, rest and the calm
Disillusioned I rinse my ache
In the ocean's whispering psalm

The ocean theory covers Earth,
But I seek what has entire control
What nature introduced the genesis birth?
Known Deities? I curse 'em all

I've set my sails for this odyssey
To locate its mystic exile
A crusade through the mind's liberty,
Not a journey in nautical miles

A voyage in science and fate
To disrobe the acceleration from zero
To dive into it and investigate,
Terrifies even the bravest hero

In the corridors of time we're sons,
Entrapped in lonely spaces
But star dusted electrons
Are my kinsmen, just with odd faces

Still fantasies unveil their sloids,
When patience turns to fear
To examine the darkest, coldest voids
For the hiding engineer

But our past is still our present
If we can't the knowledge rift over-span
An eternal transformation is what the matrix represents,
Like the child is father to the man

From Autumn to Ashes - Pioneers
(warning--mildly disturbing video with implicit violence)

Dismiss the telegram
This is no exhibition
A pile of papers that are bound and tethered
We know the end of man will stem
From stale tradition
Relaying opinions
Changing like the weather

And this will never be and this will never be reversed
An installation
Sending an open invitation
To all the pioneers driven by suspicion
The old world is gone and
We keep wishing for a new frontier
To sink our teeth in and
Forget what you thought you believed in

The plans we execute are far between and few
But I'll go around the world just for something to do
Existence is fleeting
You spend your life dreaming
The shores are exhausted
The time is receding

And this will never be a
And this will never be reversed
An installation
Sending an open invitation
To all the pioneers driven by suspicion
The old world is gone
And we keep wishing for a new frontier
To sink our teeth in
And forget what you thought you believed in

And those who resisted
Were dragged out form their homes
This necklace was fashioned out of their teeth and bones
And those who resisted
Were dragged out from their homes
This necklace was fashioned out of their teeth and bones
Their teeth and bones

To all the pioneers driven by suspicion
The old world is gone and
We keep wishing for a new frontier
To sink our teeth in
And forget what we thought we believed in

Resistance is fleeting
Resistance is fleeting
Resistance is fleeting
Resistance is fleeting

Faveorite lyrics. It's been these for a while.

The Berzerker - Forever

Always living on the line of what you think is right or wrong,
there was a time when even i could not bear to be alone,
needing someone or something that is not mine to call my own,
to have and hold,
severing the only line of trust that you once thought you had,
now that i can see past you i can start to be a man,
death to me seems no mistake for i have yet to hate,
so can you see my pain, can you feel my pain, can you see my...
this, is my world,
and i see, what you don't,
forever, wanting more,
life breathes, from our soul,
looking into bloodshot eyes mesmerized they can't look back,
slowly turning in my mind is the visions of your death,
finding truth amongst my lies but not accepting now i grow,
and gain control,
opening to inner sanctums that you do not understand,
having no respect for life and taking it with my bare hands,
always searching with contempt for ways to rid my pounding head,
from this place,
This, is my world,
and i see, what you don't,
forever, wanting more,
life breathes, from our souls.

Pink Floyd - Sorrow

The sweet smell of a great sorrow lies over the land
Plumes of smoke rise and merge into the leaden sky:
A man lies and dreams of green fields and rivers,
But awakes to a morning with no reason for waking
He's haunted by the memory of a lost paradise
In his youth or a dream, he can't be precise
He's chained forever to a world that's departed
It's not enough, it's not enough
His blood has frozen & curdled with fright
His knees have trembled & given way in the night
His hand has weakened at the moment of truth
His step has faltered
One world, one soul
Time pass, the river rolls
And he talks to the river of lost love and dedication
And silent replies that swirl invitation
Flow dark and troubled to an oily sea
A grim intimation of what is to be
There's an unceasing wind that blows through this night
And there's dust in my eyes, that blinds my sight
And silence that speaks so much louder that words,
Of promises broken
"Here's to lowering caskets of old friends choice and consequence we'll birth a new day with the death of an old and start over, start over.  Here's to burying hatchets in those who you'd never call your friend...we'll birth a new day with the death of an old day and start over, start over!"

This song perhaps above all others has impressed me most since I first heard it soon after it was released. It has become the most listened to track in my collection especially after I read Dee Brown's book Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee ©1970. Fortunately for my vinyl copy, a CD version of this album was released in 1992.

Favorite song : The Song Of Crazy Horse
Album name : The Song Of Crazy Horse †
Artist name : J. D. Blackfoot ‡
Year : ℗1974
Label : Fantasy Records
Catalog № : F-9468
Genre : Folk-Rock
Source of the lyrics : lyric sheet included with original vinyl LP recording

YouTube link : http://youtube.com/watch?v=3Xh5GUkK0u4&feature=related

† This album was recorded in New Zealand with local musicians when J.D. Blackfoot visited here, and it won the New Zealand Album of the Year Award for 1974.
‡ His real name was Benjamin Franklin VanDervort, but in 1970, he legally changed his name to J.D. Blackfoot.

- Enjoy! :)

The Song Of Crazy Horse

You took his land and you ate his corn
On his grave your land was born

You took his pride and you fed him dirt
You wished him winter without a shirt
And you called this Red Man "Savage"

After you crushed him you helped him up
To let him drink from an empty cup

You gave him the Navy without the fleet
And made him lick your hands and kiss your feet
And you named this mad dog "Savage"

Well I found a book the other day
So I looked up Red and White to see what it'd say

One was a savage the other unlearned
Like a look in the mirror the tables were turned
For history has named you "Savage"

In the year of '65
When I was very young
We watched the dust clouds to the South
We knew that you had come
We saw you build your chain of forts
Along the Bozeman Road
But Red Cloud had his allies counted
Long before it snowed

And someday Great White Father you will know my name

In December of '66
You met me face to face
I decoyed your Captain Fetterman
And we never left a trace
Into our sacred homelands
Your bluecoat soldiers came
But we just taught you a heap big lesson
In the Battle of a Hundred Slain

And someday Great White Father you will know my name

In the June of '76
Our Nation joined its hands
We made our camps on the Little Big Horn
Not knowing of your plans
You sent your long-haired Custer
With the 7th Cavalry
To hunt and kill my children
For wanting to be free

And I think it's time Great White Father that you knew my name

It's Crazy Horse, it's Crazy Horse
And I wish you were here to see
'Cause I got Yellow Hair cornered at the Big Horn
And I'm about to set him free

Ride to the village to get my Oglalas'
The Sans Arc and the Minneconjous'
Get Sitting Bull with his band of Hunkpapas'
The Brules' and Blackfoots too

Ridin' home from battle came the Cheyenne ponies
With white blood drippin' from their feet
Their riders were lookin' and shoutin' up to Heaven
Here's to Chivington at Sand Creek

Hey there Mister Wagonmaster what do you have inside
Hidden underneath of that buffalo hide
Could it be you brought to me some food from the man back East
So my starving children could have a feast

Hey mother come look and see
what the bastard done brought to me
It's alcohol, tobacco and guns
Alcohol, tobacco and guns

Now I have seen the eagle soaring beautiful and free
I don't want no man to make less of me
Do you take me for a fool or as a little child
And do you really wonder what's made me wild

Hey paleface you better run
Because my men been havin' lots of fun
On your alcohol, tobacco, and guns
Alcohol, tobacco and guns

I have waited patiently for you to pay your rent
But as yet I haven't seen that first red cent
I don't think that there's much chance of me evicting you
But watch out for the day that you get Sioux'd

A hundred years have seen the setting sun
But his sad country still is run
On his alcohol, tobacco, and guns
Alcohol, tobacco, and guns

A hundred years have seen the setting sun
But his sad country still is run
On his alcohol, tobacco, and guns
Alcohol, tobacco, and guns

Now you try to trick me
And lock me up in jail
Where would a stupid savage
Find the bondsman or the bail

I turn to run for I am scared
I want so to be free
I feel the ice-cold bayonet
As it sinks deep inside of me

But someday Great White Father you'll remember me

Sioux warriors teach your children
The white man's evil tongue
Make them know the name of Crazy Horse
And the battles he has won
So they will know the truth
When it's knowledge that they crave
Let them sing of the Land of the Free
And the Home of the Brave

And of the Great White Father that dug my grave

Brown rivers once were blue
Now the fish float upside-down
Ancestral burial grounds
That's where you've built your towns

The smokestacks from your factories
They pollute my skies
You slaughtered all my buffalo
And you left me here to die

And all of this you have done in the name of God

Crazy Horse he was laid to rest
On a creek called Wounded Knee
But there is more buried in his grave
Than the wisest men could see

I have dreamed the vision of the horse that dances wild
I have seen the land of the Great Beyond
I am one with this Earth as a little child
Let my eternal life shine on

(repeat)

Crazy Horse he was laid to rest
On a creek called Wounded Knee
But there is more buried in his grave
Than the wisest men could see

(repeat twice)

Milkweed illusion casts its die
And the horse that dances starts to fly
Rhythms of metamorphosis leave their stain
Memories of happiness kept in vain

The target tomorrow is one step beyond
For lilies of mercy lost on a pond
They cry out for freedom to the lighthouse above
They are angels of victory, peace and love

Visions of odin dark and oblique
Mind over matter which all men seek
A vague understanding with no recourse
And a fond remembrance .... of Crazy Horse

Just ride away
And travel right out through space and time
Try and find a way
Of leaving the illusion behind

And in this sleep your mind will be awakened
To the calling of a dream that lies within
You're just a child who has but to remember
That in yourself you just found your best friend

So ride away
And let your mind go through its metamorphosis
And try and find a way
To bring your sunken love back to the surface

Sail on silver clouds straight through the fire
Like a lily pad adrift on a windless sea
Clinging to the breast of Mother Nature
Together sailing beautiful and free

Ride away

It's said that Crazy Horse had the power to dream himself into the real world
And leave the illusion behind

So ride away
And don't recall the things that are best forgotten
And try and find a way
Of picking from the barrel the one that's rotten

The key to peace is sitting on your shoulders
So knock upon the door and you walk on in
You're just a child who has but to remember
That in yourself you just found your best friend

So ride away
Ride away
(repeat twice)

Crazy Horse he was laid to rest
On a creek called Wounded Knee

The Song Of Crazy Horse

You took his land and you ate his corn
On his grave your land was born

You took his pride and you fed him dirt
You wished him winter without a shirt
And you called this Red Man "Savage"

After you crushed him you helped him up
To let him drink from an empty cup

You gave him the Navy without the fleet
And made him lick your hands and kiss your feet
And you named this mad dog "Savage"

Well I found a book the other day
So I looked up Red and White to see what it'd say

One was a savage the other unlearned
Like a look in the mirror the tables were turned
For history has named you "Savage"

In the year of '65
When I was very young
We watched the dust clouds to the South
We knew that you had come
We saw you build your chain of forts
Along the Bozeman Road
But Red Cloud had his allies counted
Long before it snowed

And someday Great White Father you will know my name

In December of '66
You met me face to face
I decoyed your Captain Fetterman
And we never left a trace
Into our sacred homelands
Your bluecoat soldiers came
But we just taught you a heap big lesson
In the Battle of a Hundred Slain

And someday Great White Father you will know my name

In the June of '76
Our Nation joined its hands
We made our camps on the Little Big Horn
Not knowing of your plans
You sent your long-haired Custer
With the 7th Cavalry
To hunt and kill my children
For wanting to be free

And I think it's time Great White Father that you knew my name

It's Crazy Horse, it's Crazy Horse
And I wish you were here to see
'Cause I got Yellow Hair cornered at the Big Horn
And I'm about to set him free

Ride to the village to get my Oglalas'
The Sans Arc and the Minneconjous'
Get Sitting Bull with his band of Hunkpapas'
The Brules' and Blackfoots too

Ridin' home from battle came the Cheyenne ponies
With white blood drippin' from their feet
Their riders were lookin' and shoutin' up to Heaven
Here's to Chivington at Sand Creek

Hey there Mister Wagonmaster what do you have inside
Hidden underneath of that buffalo hide
Could it be you brought to me some food from the man back East
So my starving children could have a feast

Hey mother come look and see
what the master done brought to me
It's alcohol, tobacco and guns
Alcohol, tobacco and guns

Now I have seen the eagle soaring beautiful and free
I don't want no man to make less of me
Do you take me for a fool or as a little child
And do you really wonder what's made me wild

Hey paleface you better run
Because my men been havin' lots of fun
On your alcohol, tobacco, and guns
Alcohol, tobacco and guns

I have waited patiently for you to pay your rent
But as yet I haven't seen that first red cent
I don't think that there's much chance of me evicting you
But watch out for the day that you get Sioux'd

A hundred years have seen the setting sun
But his sad country still is run
On his alcohol, tobacco, and guns
Alcohol, tobacco, and guns

A hundred years have seen the setting sun
But his sad country still is run
On his alcohol, tobacco, and guns
Alcohol, tobacco, and guns

Now you try to trick me
And lock me up in jail
Where would a stupid savage
Find the bondsman or the bail

I turn to run for I am scared
I want so to be free
I feel the ice-cold bayonet
As it sinks deep inside of me

But someday Great White Father you'll remember me

Sioux warriors teach your children
The white man's evil tongue
Make them know the name of Crazy Horse
And the battles he has won
So they will know the truth
When it's knowledge that they crave
Let them sing of the Land of the Free
And the Home of the Brave

And of the Great White Father that dug my grave

Brown rivers once were blue
Now the fish float upside-down
Ancestral burial grounds
That's where you've built your towns

The smokestacks from your factories

You slaughtered all my buffalo

Favorite song : The Story of Isaac
Artist name : Leonard Cohen
Genre : Folk
Source of the lyrics : http://www.lyricsfreak.com/l/leonard+cohen/story+of+isaac_20082852.html
Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqO7cyCovBY  (begins around minute 4:30 there are two songs on the youtube)

The door it opened slowly,
My father he came in,was nine years old.
And he stood so tall above me,
His blue eyes they were shining
And his voice was very cold.
He said, Ive had a vision
And you know Im strong and holy,
I must do what Ive been told.
So he started up the mountain,
I was running, he was walking,
And his axe was made of gold.

Well, the trees they got much smaller,
The lake a ladys mirror,
We stopped to drink some wine.
Then he threw the bottle over.
Broke a minute later
And he put his hand on mine.
Thought I saw an eagle
But it might have been a vulture,
I never could decide.
Then my father built an altar,
He looked once behind his shoulder,
He knew I would not hide.

You who build these altars now
To sacrifice these children,
You must not do it anymore.
A scheme is not a vision
And you never have been tempted
By a demon or a god.
You who stand above them now,
Your hatchets blunt and bloody,
You were not there before,
When I lay upon a mountain
And my fathers hand was trembling
With the beauty of the word.

And if you call me brother now,
Forgive me if I inquire,
Just according to whose plan?
When it all comes down to dust
I will kill you if I must,
I will help you if I can.
When it all comes down to dust
I will help you if I must,
I will kill you if I can.
And mercy on our uniform,
Man of peace or man of war,
The peacock spreads his fan.

Time to get away from some of the depressing lyrics...
Written By:  Shel Silverstein
Performed by a story telling genius:  Johnny Cash
Title:  A Boy Named Sue
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M89c3hWx3RQ
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Boy_Named_Sue

My daddy left home when I was three
And he didn't leave much to ma and me
Just this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze
Now, I don't blame him cause he run and hid
But the meanest thing that he ever did
Was before he left, he went and named me Sue

Well, he must o' thought that is quite a joke
And it got a lot of laughs from a' lots of folk
It seems I had to fight my whole life through
Some gal would giggle and I'd get red
And some guy'd laugh and I'd bust his head
I tell ya, life ain't easy for a boy named Sue

Well, I grew up quick and I grew up mean
My fist got hard and my wits got keen
I'd roam from town to town to hide my shame
But I made a vow to the moon and stars
That I'd search the honky-tonks and bars
And kill that man who gave me that awful name

Well, it was Gatlinburg in mid-July
And I just hit town and my throat was dry
I thought I'd stop and have myself a brew
At an old saloon on a street of mud
There at a table, dealing stud
Sat the dirty, mangy dog that named me Sue

Well, I knew that snake was my own sweet dad
From a worn-out picture that my mother'd had
And I knew that scar on his cheek and his evil eye
He was big and bent and gray and old
And I looked at him and my blood ran cold
And I said, "My name is Sue, how do you do
Now you're gonna die"

Well, I hit him hard right between the eyes
And he went down, but to my surprise
He come up with a knife and cut off a piece of my ear
But I busted a chair right across his teeth
And we crashed through the wall and into the street
Kicking and a' gouging in the mud and the blood and the beer

I tell ya, I've fought tougher men
But I really can't remember when
He kicked like a mule and he bit like a crocodile
I heard him laugh and then I heard him cuss
He went for his gun and I pulled mine first
He stood there lookin' at me and I saw him smile

And he said, "Son, this world is rough
And if a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough
And I knew I wouldn't be there to help ya along
So I give ya that name and I said goodbye
I knew you'd have to get tough or die
And it's the name that helped to make you strong"

He said, "Now you just fought one hell of a fight
And I know you hate me, and you got the right
To kill me now, and I wouldn't blame you if you do
But ya ought to thank me, before I die
For the gravel in ya guts and the spit in ya eye
'Cause I'm the son-of-a-bitch that named you Sue"

I got all choked up and I threw down my gun
And I called him my paw, and he called me his son
And I came away with a different point of view
And I think about him, now and then
Every time I try and every time I win
And if I ever have a son, I think I'm gonna name him...
Bill or George! Anything but Sue!

Atreyu - The Crimson

I feel it welling up inside and Robert Smith lied
Boys do cry and with blood tears in my eyes
I'm an Anne Rice novel come to life
I can't hide the monster anymore
One can only feel desolate for so long
Until one starts to change
Into something the mirror doesn't recognize
I metamorphasize
The darkness has been biding its time
To claim its latest victim
Fresh meat for carnal desires
To become what I became
I viewed the sun for the last time

[Chorus:]
Will you still hold me when you see what I have done?
Will you still kiss me the same when you taste my victim's blood?
So crimson and red, I feel it flowing from your lips (crimson and red)
My heart is dead and so are you

And it pulses through, the desire to change
The desire to deconstruct all of my past failings
But where to begin because when you live in sin
It's hard to look at saints without them
Reflecting youre jet black auras back on you
And all I have is hope, my inner burn's not fading
I'll wipe the blood from my cheek and get on with my day

[Chorus]

And all I have is hope, and all I need is time
To bury in pine under six feet of time
The lies I told me about myself
Claw my way out, pick the splinters from under my fingernails
I won't lose hope, I won't give in
Just live and breathe and try not to die again

[Chorus x2]
"Here's to lowering caskets of old friends choice and consequence we'll birth a new day with the death of an old and start over, start over.  Here's to burying hatchets in those who you'd never call your friend...we'll birth a new day with the death of an old day and start over, start over!"

Cemetry Gates

A dreaded sunny day
So I meet you at the cemetry gates
Keats and Yeats are on your side

A dreaded sunny day
So I meet you at the cemetry gates
Keats and Yeats are on your side
While Wilde is on mine

So we go inside and we gravely read the stones
All those people all those lives
Where are they now?

With loves, and hates
And passions just like mine
They were born and then they lived and then they died
Seems so unfair, I want to cry

You say: "ere thrice the sun hath done salutation to the dawn"
And you claim these words as your own
But I'm well-read, have heard them said
A hundred times, maybe less, maybe more

If you must write prose, poems
The words you use should be your own
Don't plagiarise or take "on loans"

There's alweays someone, somewhere
With a big nose, who knows
And who trips you up and laughs when you fall
Who'll trip you up and laugh when you fall

You say: "ere long done do does did"
Words which could only be your own
You then produce the text from whence was ripped
Some dizzy whore, 1804

A dreaded sunny day
So let's go where we're happy
So I meet you at the cemetry gates
Keats and Yeats are on your side

A dreaded sunny day
So let's go where we're wanted
So I meet you at the cemetry gates
Keats and Yeats are on your side
But you lose
Because Wilde is on mine
