even if it were a 'boredness meter' I'd think a more intelligent person would be more easily bored by swinging a pick repeatedly in search of something shiny

whether someone gets bored or not isnt just influenced by how much mental activity it requires. if they love it for the sake of it, a character shouldnt get bored doing it.

Is it just my imagination or does time of day have an effect on mining success?

But it wasn't boring. And it's pretty much the same thing, searching for shiny stuff. And it didn't take any brains at all.

agreed... when i was a kid, i loved to dig holes with my brothers anywhere, in our backyard, at the beach... of course we'd always make forts and stuff. sometimes we'd dig to find things and that was the most fun of anything, especially when you find what you were looking for.

you really wouldn't be that bored looking for platinum or something. You'd actually be excited on hitting the jackpot and maybe even try to dig faster, i mean getting a few platinum ores in a row feels kinda nice.

would be bored. If you didn't find any. which is likely.

yes, but did you find anything at all, let alone what you were looking for? Also, i assume you were digging in a garden. there will be things buried from the previous owners. whereas there won't be so much platinum found in later versions, so it will be more boring.

why not add random stuff that could be found as well while mining then? an old shoe, broken pick, a couple trias

Certain types of mineral deposits are found together. It might make sense for mining to usually return something, like rock or quartz or such.

Prollix... I think that you might be using the Mastercrafted Rock Pick. Try using a regular Rock Pick and see if your meters still change the way you describe.

Indeed I am, should it not work better? It probably does not but you would think that it should. I have not maxed out my mental stats yet but the physical ones are all at 200.
I do not really understand why a mastercrafted too should be harder to use than a regular one, I suppose it has to do with out of context implementation details.

I just recently acquired one of these, and I have noticed that my Physical endurance is much less affected. With the better Rock Pick it takes less "back work" and still the same amount of mental sorting effort. I do not see it adding anything to my skills/abilities, I just don't wear out physically as fast as before.

No, they drop them, and either they accidentally pile a mound of earth on them, or over time they get grown over, or just gradually get buried by moving earth (due to wind or water, maybe).
