Imperial Guard combat training
« on: June 21, 2008, 02:28:34 pm »
Next to the Hydlaa Headquarters of the Empire, you can see a small tent erected with some leaflets hanging out.

Quote
The Octarchal Decree of 425 AY

By decree, let these codes of law be known throughout the land:

VI. Male, female and Kran children shall be made to fight with sticks and throw stones at targets from the earliest age that they can do so. Our world is harsh and citizens of the Octarchy must be more so.

VII. Once an adult, all peoples must seek and provide monies for at least one year of weapons and armor training.

VIII. All citizens must be always prepared to protect themselves and defend their property.

To uphold the law and will of the Octarchy the Imperial Guard organises weapons training for all citizens of Yliakum.

This training is intended for young and old citizens that have had little prior chance to be trained in the combat arts. The course will be given by experienced soldiers and trainers, who will focus on an approach for beginners. Topics that can be expected to show up are:

- Encountering wild creatures.
- Combat awareness.
- Arming yourself.
- Staff fighting.
- Teamwork.
- ...

The first course will be free of charge and equipment, as well as refreshments will be provided by the Empire.

To ensure that we have enough equipment for all participants we request that those who are interested in attending this course leave their name at the Imperial Headquarters in Guildhall square, Hydlaa.

Signed,

Warlord Klarm.

The tent is manned by an Imperial who greets you and explains that he  accepts registrations or will gladly answer any questions that may arise.

(OOC: This is an RP event hosted by the Dark Empire and intended for newer roleplayers or older characters with little combat experience. I won't be focussing on game mechanics or PvP. Instead this will be a group training, based on roleplay for the most part and supplemented with some game mechanics. It's not meant for those with high combat oriented skills already and it's definitely not a tournament to see who's the best. You can expect some degree of military discipline though since the Imperial Guard is hosting. :P

It will be held on sunday the 29th, around 19:00 GMT just outside of the Hydlaa Arena.

If you're interested just drop me a PM or reply to this thread. Since I'll be providing equipment for everyone who wants to join, I'll be needing to know some numbers. :D

P.S.: I'll be looking for one or two potential teachers as well, depending on the interest. They'll be tested by Hwnae personally to see if they have what it takes.)

[While I most likely won't be attending this event, I just wanted to say I love what you're doing here and encourage anyone that has a newer/weaker character to take part in this! ]

Beniel strides up to the registration tent outside the Empire headquarters. Greeting the Imperial manning the tent, he peers at the leaflet written by Warlord Klarm.

"Encountering wild creatures?" Beniel thought. The majority of his encounters either left him running like hell or in the Death Realm... and combat awareness and arming yourself? He could make weapons, but using them...

Rubbing the side of his forehead thoughtfully, Beniel looks up to his fellow Imperial and asks "Where do I sign up?"

(This is postphoned due to a client update.

I will post a new date once we can get back on and the client is stabilized enough, probably in a few weeks.)
