Servers
« on: June 26, 2008, 10:55:46 pm »
Hi.  I just signed up for ps.  Thought I would give it a go.  Can't seem to connect to the server tho.  When opening the client, server status is "failed".  Can't really complain because it's free and open source, but my first time playing the game, would be nice if I could get online.   ::)  I guess that's the one fun thing about paying for service.  Is that you can whine, complain, rant, rave and well, that's fun!   \\o//  But anyway, how often does the server go out?  How long is it down usually?  I read that you were donated a new server recently.  3ghz x2.  Um.  I don't think it's working.  :)

It goes down fairly frequently most of the time it is back up right away but sometimes is down for hours.

I'd like to play the game soon.  It's nice to find an open source rpg.  Totally free.  So many rps make you pay to get more features or after a trial period.  That's a waste of time.

Check that website for server status. It appears to be up.

Do you have a firewall? Check port 7777 udp/tcp is allowed.

Speaking of the frequent downtime, does anyone know if it's an issue of hardware/operating system instability, or if it's the ps server app? Just feeding my curiosity

I'm pretty sure it's not being blocked by anything  ::|

So I have no idea what's going on.

:edit: I tried re-installing it, and I still have the same problem.

It's not blocked by my firewall, so... What could be wrong?

yep thats the one.  you said you were using vista in another thread right?

is vista's firewall blocking it?  what is your connection ot he internet like?  pc to modem to your isp, or something like pc to a router, to your modem to isp, or pc to router to uni's network to isp?

I think the firewall isn't blocking it, but I can't be positive because I have no idea how to check that (me=not familiar with vista)

I'm also not sure about the connection, as I'm not the one who pays attention to that. I think it's PC to router, ect.

The server says there are two people online, is the server up or is it just being weird?
