Planeshift is intended to be a roleplaying game, even if some players don't RP. If there are two "creeds", RPing is no longer the norm, and that would ruin RP for quite a few people, in my opinion. PLs do mostly still respect RP, and even to RP, people DO have to be realistic with their characters' stats- I'm not going to RP a great duelist if in reality I can't even pick up a sword 
Keep the balance... (Sorry for the stereotypical phrase- if anyone can think of something more imaginative...)

  Sorry to break it to you but there will always be that one person who will think it is a joke, and won't respect RP. You just have to learn to walk away and ignore the person. If a player is playing an unrealistic character or action and they seem happy with it and won't let their ideals go, then let them be. They will find other RPer's like themselves. Then they too can enjoy the game as you are playing with other Rper's more suitable to your needs. It is as simple as that.

Rpers should spend less time worrying about powerlevelers and more time RPing.

Agreed. Worry about your own character because really that is all you as a player have control of.

Of course- there are always exceptions. Maybe I'm in an unusual timezone or something, but I've never really encountered anyone who actually went and wrecked any RP I was doing. Lucky me.
