depends on what client you are trying to use. (mac, linux, windoze, etc)

does not really, all clients should be able to be updated. if you can run the updater it will upgrade your client. mac clients might not work well with the updater though.

exactly my point.  :)

if they are using a mac, then they need to be pointed to the specifics about how to go about that.  else, they could just rn the updater.  but they didn't say which client they are using, hence you have to ask.

Hello dear devs and gm's,

I have been downloading the new version for windows and installed it, but when i open either the psclient, psupdate or pssetup.exe i get the following errormessage: (trying to translate it from Dutch)

"The application cannot be started because the configuration of the application is false (incorrect). Re-installing the application can solve this problem."

I have also tried editing the updaterinfo.xml file from "false" to "true", but that doesn't do anything either. I have re-installed it many times and also re-installed version 4.0.0. and tried the updater, all without any success...

Could someone please help me get the client running?

Many thanks in advance,

Announcer (i'm not that technically biased probably, i just followed some instructions already given without success  ???)

I recommend downloading the new 0.4.01 client and then using the updater.

My updater did not work (Win32) - told me my "updaterinfo.xml" is marked as inactive, and quit.

I had to edit the file and set the attribute

<config active="false">

to

<config active="true"> -- that will be changed to <config> later.

Well.. i have almost downloaded version 4.0.1 again, see what it does now  ::|

It is version zero dot four dot zero one (0.4.01). A long time until version 1 would arrive.

Could be that you are running Vista 64 bit and might need some compatibility settings.

Could be that you have no OpenGL drivers.

This error message is too unspecific for me to help you.

I've just downloaded the new client, and i get the exact same error message as 'announcer' does
"The application cannot be started because the configuration of the application is false (incorrect). Re-installing the application can solve this problem."

I tried the updating and re-installing, all to no avail. I'm running windows xp 32 bit btw.

Any suggestions and help appreciated.

I don't know what you mean by "the same OS". Do tell us what you got. We can't know. You are responsible for our success, by telling us: Facts, facts, facts!!!

I assume he meant the same os as the above post, which is windows xp 32bit
(the same one I use atm, btw)
and I get the same error.
and there aren't many facts to tell because after many reinstalls, all error message that I got (when running settings, client and updater)
was the one about that incorrect configuration file:

"The application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application might fix the problem."

and that's it.

I'll try the linux version later today if I get the time
