New update help

I've tried to reinstall and am still getting this same "The application cannot be started because the configuration of the application is false (incorrect). Re-installing the application can solve this problem."

I've tried a few things, including installing on another drive and re-downloading the client an installing again but still this error persists.

Not sure i mentioned this either, but i also get the same error message when i run the updater. My PC is running fully updated drivers, and i've never had issuses with getting clients running in the past.

My specs :

Intel P4 3.2
2 Gb Ram
Nvidia 6800XT 128mb
Windows XP 32bit

I'm not sure if there's anything else i can try... suggestions appreciated

I did not have any problems. Might be because I updated over an existing 0.4.00 installation? Could it be that 0.4.01 does not create some config files in a fresh installation?

Also I have a good amount of runtime distributables correctly installed (e.g. VC++, .NET -- but I am sure .NET is not required).

I installed the 0.4.00 and then 0.4.01 on top of that and the configuration problem was solved. now all that's left is that OpenAL32.dll problem...

if you get the updater working it has the requested dll

I have done this: reinstalled 0.4.0.0 ran the updater and then installed 0.4.0.1 on top of that,then edited the new updaterinfo.xml file from "false"to "true", only with the same outcome for my windows app(0.4.0.1 client):

"The application cannot be started because the configuration of the application is false (incorrect). Re-installing the application can solve this problem."

Which in other words brings me as far as my original problem, none of the 3 .exe (psclient,pssetup,psupdater) files work, while frustratingly i see people online

it's okay I just installed openal separately and it's working now.
well kind of, I can start the game, but it has some weird graphics problem and is quite unplayable.
will inspect some more before complaining more

it works now. I have no idea why, one moment I couldn't use the updater and then I could...
and it updated the stuff and now it works...

have you tried to install the game in another directory?

After installing the setup.exe worked, then i ran the update, and then the client started!!!!
