Should i report this to BT, or is the scope of the problem too limited to bother?

I dont think you will get any better help on the tracker then on the forum

True, we probably wouldn't get any better help on the Bug Tracker than on the forums, but I still suggest posting a report there because then the dev team can have all the known issues in one central location.  That's what the tracker is for, isn't it?  ;)

and i work the tracker and would close it as i cant duplicate it and the forum is the place for this type of help. the devs spend less time on the forum yes then the tracker but bugs like this dont need to be on the tracker, end of story

Caarrie, my suggestion wasn't meant to aggravate, so I apologize if I upset you.  I only wanted to help, especially since this issue has been giving me problems as well.

Cleared my problem up by reverting to the old 0.4.01 installation. Should I keep my console and crash log, or edit my previous post to remove them?

Caarie - I have been talking with someone in-game who had similar problems (not on mac) but managed to fix it by replacing the affected maps with maps from 4.0 - I would like to try it (if you think it has any chance of working?) but unfortunately I didn't make a backup of 4.0 (or the initial 4.01 update on 29.06.2008) and the links available are only for the latest version (the one from the mirror in Sweden isn't working)...

from reading the posts here and on the bugtracker, there may also be discrepancies on which maps do and don't work between the various versions of OS X running on PPC. i.e. 10.3, 10.4 and 10.5 sound like they are having the same sort of problems but with different maps since the 4.01 update on 21.07.2008.

there is no gurantee that old maps will work, also if you load old maps certain features might not work correctly i do _NOT_ recommend putting in old maps in place of new ones. if you have issues with the client run the updater and wait for a fix to be sent out. It may take time to get a fix but it is known to the devs.

My problem was fixed by turning Vertex Buffer Object off.

I still get "loading region failed" on bdroad2, though (and I have a lot of quest items I need BD access to get rid of). :(

For me, the crashes still persist even with Vertex Buffer Object turned off.
