PsClient not loading
« on: July 21, 2008, 05:48:50 am »
Hello
When I join PS, the client crashes and I get this message in my shell console: "Stat request failed because CelClient not ready for 17       625"
What's going on?

You should probably include your operating system, and system specs when asking for help.

When I click "Join" it loads as normal, then the window just dissappears.

I think it's loading Gugrontid map, but I don't know for sure.
Could it be a hard disk space problem? I only have 220MB left.

that combined with the fact that you have low ram, it is possible your pc does not meet spec to play ps anymore.

Do I need more RAM and hard disk space?
Or should I get PS on windows?

I'm actually having the same sort of problem. My computer has a Celeron 2.9 GHz processor and 1.5 GB of RAM. While the processor is a little wimpy, I've been successfully running PlaneShift since April. The problem started today after about a week of not playing at all. I ran the updater immediately before trying to play, since it had been a while. A few people reported something similar which was fixed by running a script called fixlibs.sh, but I can't find it in my PlaneShift directory. Thanks to anyone who can help.

EDIT: I solved the problem by uninstalling/reinstalling. It is probably not the easiest solution, but it works.

In windows, you should have about 1x to 2x the memory of your computer (512MB) available on the file system for virtual memory. You can have more but the downside is that the system can enter a loop where it is constantly swapping memory out and in again.

Under linux the swapfile(adds to virtual memory) is afaik always it's own file system, so there should be enough even if normal file system space runs out, at least if you got it configured at all.

That being said, my memory problems with PS usually crop up later, not when I log in.

I recently read something about a minor update, could that be a problem?
