Eating problems
« on: July 26, 2008, 04:39:43 pm »
Is it a bug or my Ylian can't eat peeled nor cored apples, or grilled meat or a pile of grilled meat? Can't eat scrambled eggs either nor bread slices or pieces, nor pie slices. I only ate apples and bread until now, haven't tried pies or fresh meat, but I suppose I can't either  :-X

At the moment, meals cooked by players are not edible afaik. You can eat fresh products like fish, meat, and bread but not the dishes you make. At least not yet.

Unfortunately it seems to be quite a lot of work to set up the database for all possible meals not only with the attribute that they are edible, but also with some value of restoring your energy. I could imagine e.g. that "Fish Delight" may not restore the same amount of energy as "Sludge Soup", and some "kitchen accidents" may even harm your health... And all those values have to be entered in a table by someone.

this has been reported on the bug tracker http://www.hydlaa.com/flyspray_upgrade/index.php?do=details&task_id=1243 It will also be presented to the devs at the next dev meeting as a top 5 bug for settings, but as LigH said it will take some time. It should be something that is fixed around the time of the next release or shortly there after, but dont quote me on that.

Until then you can role play eating, right?

It would be better if things could be eaten even if they gave no effect. Of course there is the problem with the Kran exemption...

Like Prolix says...

I still have to burn it in the furnace afterwards though. And if I don't stay to guard it some metalworker is likely to remove it again and some GM will hit upon me again for littering the world. Duh. Been there, done it. ;-) But I still don't know how to rp my guarding a furnace that burns stuff I eat up already. Probably just admiring the beauty of the furnace (not)! :-p

Anyway, fingers crossed food will be edible or at least sellable (in all stages) in the next release. I might postpone cooking until then though as getting rid of the half-prepared but not edible/sellable stuff is annoying.
So much to do - and so little time...

I think you ought to create an alliance of PlaneShift experts who are NOT involved in the actual design and programming of the game. This game has been up for how long? And how many experts on the game do you think there are by now? People who weally live it.

Anyway: Send them the database of dishes, and let them together tell you what a dish will do. You will review their answers, and you will see that they know what they're talking about. I am not an 'expert' on the game myself, but to me it seems right. You have a giant recourse of knowledge you didn't even knew you'd given, there.

we have a group of people that work on "rules" like that it just takes time and they are a small team and they also have a real life that tends to come first. They also have other tasks they have to work on. Please do no go telling us what we should be doing or should not till you know what is really going on.
