Yet another DR question
« on: August 01, 2008, 11:19:52 am »
This has been confusing me... We go to the DR when we die... does this happen to everyone that lives in Yliakum, i mean, is death irrelevant as in Eternal life, even if tormented by the hell that is the DR? Because if that where so, then would not Yliakum's population inflate massively until the stalactite could no longer hold them? Or is it when we die of old age or natural causes that we are left to rest in peace?
We, The people, The klyros almighty, will be the only survivors when our world falls!

Everyone passes through the Death Realms when they die. However, after a few deaths, most beings no longer have the power or will to traverse the Realms, and die properly (die the True Death)- this is because Dakkru, the goddess of death, extracts a price from each being that traverses the Realms (see the DR Citadel library). Also, dying of old age will not send the being to the Death Realm- True Death is also caused by coming within 12 m of the Crystal. Further details can be found in the Jayose library (on True Death) and the Death Realms library (on the Realms themselves).
Hope that satisfies your question

Like Eathon said, there is a True Death, which means you are dead for sure and cannot return.
This is for example if you die of old age, or of a desease that makes you really weak and your body can not enter the Death Realm anymore. Or when you are punished by the government ..there has been a case in the past....erm, well...too much info for here.

I highly suggest you to read some books ingame, they can of course be found in the library, but other locations hold books too. Explore the world a little and see where you might be able to read some books, or ask fellow players about it in an RP manner...oh and Settings Dept is always working on new material, so books and quests can appear at every time, check the sources for books regularly :)

Please use the search function of the forum. There are already hundreds threads about all kind of aspects of the Death Realm. Thank you very much.

I don't remember any exactly like this and addressing this question. True death seems to have mostly been mentioned in rp threads without explanation.

I suggest the statue of Laanx gets turned into a statue of Parallo <3. An NPC could never replace the huge hole he left in my heart when he died  :'(

If I remember correctly - not exactly.

Upon your death your body is taken care of by the Dark Crystal. Basically, it attempts to repair any damage that has been done in the last moments of your life. It skips, however, any damage that has been done long before the moment of your death. Therefore scars, lost limbs, etc. aren't taken care of by the Dark Crystal.
Now further problem stemming from this is that the Dark Crystal cannot possibly repair results of long-term illnesses. Diseases, starvation, aging and other sources of slow body damage escape possibilities of the Dark Crystal.

DC also doesn't seem to be able to reconstruct bodies that have been completely annihilated. At least it couldn't reconstruct bodies destroyed by the Azure Sun, or a larger pack of beasts (see main website).
