Whats this seti@home thing?

i dled it and started doing some of those calculations, i\'m not worried about the CPU usage, but does it suck up any bandwith?

I believe it uses you cpu for doing calculations for buildeing the game, effectively using the web as parralell prosessing power. It would use bandwith, yes, although some programs like it only operate when your connection is idle. Anyway, it depends on the program.

its actually a calcluation looking for radio signals in outerspace, if planeshift gets enough units calculated it will get alot more publicity, so get a calculating!

i was wondering abou tthat myself....i looked at the site and was thinking to my self wtf is this then i got the hell outa there and looked outside at the satalites that are taking pictures of me....i think its major league baseball hahahah.. (the simpsons fans might know what im talkin about)  8)  :D

There is a similar program available, that uses your CPUs idle time for calculations in cancer research.
