No Skins

My problem is that none of the skins work. When i go into setup the skins are all in the drop down menu, but when i select them all i get is a blue menu. I even downloaded a mod for paper and glass menus and it is recognized by the setup but it does nothing when i click on it. I really want to start playing again so i hope someone can help.

This is on the windows version.

My Specs are:

Winodws XP Professional: 32bit
Amd Athlon 3600+ x2 processor
biostar 7050pv motherboard
Nvidia 9600gt
2gb ram

ah also, i guess i should mention that my character loads into the tutorial map, i can see the houses and the ground and the npc's but I cannot see the menus.

have you run the updater to see if it has any updates?

have you gone to your video cards website to get the latest drivers for the card?

well i ran the updater, i had to change the updaterinfo.xml first, but after that it updated.

i can go and download the latest drivers for my video card but i don't think that is the problem. The tutorial runs, and only the menus are transparent.

let me download the driver and i'll see if it does anything.

well now when i run psclient it says failure to load effects.

i'm gonna try to reinstall, again, and see if it fixes anything.

edit: when i looked at the error log it says

Ok my drivers are completely updated, and planescape loads into the tutorial but my menus are still not working and i have these error messages:

Sounds like it's not finding your planeshift.cfg file...do you have admin rights on your box?  This file should be in C:\Documents and Settings\your_user_name\Application Data (hidden folder)\PlaneShift\planeshift.cfg and please make sure it exists.

It wouldn't hurt to open it up.  I'm interested in what your PlaneShift.GUI.Skin.Selected line says.

but when i input elves or default nothing happens. Should i put the path to the skin?

I'm really interested if it changes your command line output, so post it anyways.  Set it to "default" for now; you shouldn't need the full path to the skin.

I don't know why it puts the \ after the .zip but it sounds like it's not loading the VFS driver.  Run "psclient.exe -console" and post everything it gives you here.
