Help with game ports
« on: August 18, 2008, 03:12:16 am »
I found two old threads on this (2003 and 2005) that had conflicting information on this point.  So, I'm starting a new thread because I could not fndwhat ports do I need to have allowed in my firewall to run/play PlaneShift, please?  I've just moved, and my roomie has to allow ports before I can use them.

This link was also given (http://planeshift.fragnetics.com/), but I don't see any port information there.

Thanks!

EDIT:  He allowed port 7777--I still cannot connect.  My computer has never had trouble connecting to PS before, so I'm assuming there's more to this port problem...

I have no software firewall; my computer has connected to PS just fine until I logged in from here.  My roommate has a firewall on the router, and various ports need to be 'allowed' for them to work.  I asked him to allow 7777 and he told me he had done so, but I still find the server unavailable when I attempt to log in.  Pinging it, my computer can detect the server; I am not, however, able to connect to the game.  Is port 7777 accurate?  Is there something else I might try?

what version of the client are you using? old clients will _not_ connect to the current server.

Please also make sure the UDP port 7777 is open on the router.

I only downloaded it a bit over a week ago; I ran the updater a short while ago today and it says I'm fully up to date.  Unitil I came here yesterday I was having no problems at all, so I have assumed it has to be a router/firewall issue.

Please also make sure the UDP port 7777 is open on the router.

He says he already allowed this port, but I will ask him again.  Are there any other possible reasons for this that anyone can think of?

I very sincerely appreciate any and all help!

Okay, it's the UDP part I had wrong.  He thought I meant TCP/IP.  Sometimes, I really am a dunce.  Thanks much for your help, guys!
