Improved Chat Filters for Combat
« on: August 21, 2008, 06:14:49 am »
I'd like to see options added to the Chat Filters beyond filtering out the System messages from combat.  I personally find it very irritating to have to switch between System and Main windows during combat, so I tend to ignore the Main window and this has led to me missing people trying to get my attention.  If I could filter out 'Trepor is nearly dead' and 'You have killed Trepor', etc, as I can other combat messages, it would be very helpful.  (Ideally, I think that all messages relating to combat should be put in the System window, but that's more my opinion alone.  The filters would be more egalitarian, probably.)

Just a thought I had. :)

I tend to agree with this. there is far more that goes into main than is really useful. Then again maybe if there was just a chat channel instead of main...

i doubt this is really new but it certainly has been a while since anyone mentioned it. It might even be on the bug tracker somewhere but if it isn't it ought to be.

It would also be nice if we could filter 'sit down' and 'stand up' messages and the like--anything to keep my Main window clearer so I know when someone is actually trying to talk to me, and I have to click less at the distracting flashies. ;D

Just uncheck the circled box and you'll get rid of any "green" messages in main tab. Enjoy.

A reactive filter would be nice as well. If you find that something is bothering you, click on a remove from chat option and it would remove all instances of that message, including in scrollback. Same could work for adding things. If you had removed 'sitting' emotes from main, but then wished to know when someone stood up and left in a conversation, click to add 'sitting' back into the scrollback. Could be further used to select just the messages of certain players or groups of player as well. I suppose you could consider that as a focus menu.
