problem with planeshift: mac 10.5.4
« on: August 23, 2008, 06:25:54 am »
I have been trying everything for the past 2 days to successfully install this game. At first I tried to download the macosx files, but no programs could unzip it (or even recognize it). I then moved onto the macosx10.3.9 download, which went smoothly. I had extracted the files into a folder on the desktop, then downloaded the patch for the updater: macosx1039. The file unzipped/extracted and I replaced the old file with the new. The updater just shook around in my dock with no result. I had learned from the forums to change the "false" to "true" on the .xml file, with no result. I had then read the second post, changed the file completely (save target as) but the updater still did not work. The client itself encounters the error "the application psclient_static quit unexpectedly". The relaunch button does nothing.

I tried to install the macosx updater over the macosx1039 updater, but nothing happened. I had read that I could probably avoid this problem by downloading the 4.0.0 file but none of the links have been working. I have also changed the Part 3: Game Planeshift.Userconfig, as recommended by the forums, in just about every way possible without avail. I have reinstalled at least 5 times, each time reinstalling the updater. I am almost positive that the forum does not address this issue because I have read nearly every post.

I have a MacBook with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2.4 GHz, 2GB memory. I have an Intel GMA X3100. I don't think that the graphics card is creating the problems because I cannot even boot the updater, but it can easily run WoW.

Please help me with any advice that can get me playing!

Caarrie

the updater has no gui so you will see nothing, and DONT run the 10.3.9 client unless you have that os.
