Do a search, I promise you it's on here  ;) I know I've said this at least twice myself. And Caarie a million times.

But here's how you do it, open up finder, and navigate to the Planeshift Application Folder then right click (if on a laptop or one button mouse CTRL + click) on the 'psupdater' then click 'show package contents' from there navigate --> Contents --> MacOS --> Double click on 'psupdater_static'

From there a terminal window should launch with the progress (the blue crystal will also bounce while the updater does its work, leave it be)

Try a search next time though, and scroll down a bit, I know searching can sometimes be hazardous on these forums  :-\

close the updater and open it again if this keeps happening then you might have to download the latest client to get it to work correctly.

sorry i don't really know the technical terms.  Does this mean i have to download the whole game over? (I'm not whining about it i'm just asking.)

have you closed and reopened the updater? have you tried running the updater several times? if you have and it still gives you this error and you don thave the lastest client then yes your best bet is to download the client again and run the updater again to make sure you have the most updated files.

I have a problem with my updater as well, and rather than start a new topic, I'll just latch onto this one. keep things tidy.

I too can't run my updater. it says "Checking for updates:
This program requires admin/root or write privileges to run. Please restart the program with these.
In windows, this means right clicking the Updater shortcut and selecting "Run as administrator".
For everyone else, login as the root user. If you don't have root access, contact someone who does and ask them nicely to run the updater!"

however, when I DO log in as the root user, it says the same exact thing. I'm not sure what to do at this point. could anyone give me some insight?

what are your system stats? how are you running the updater and are you the ADMIN user of your system?

Sorry for the lateness of this. I kind of forgot.  :-[

Mac OS X  10.4.11

Processor: 2GHz PowerPC G5

Memory: 512 MB DDR SDRAM

No idea anything else, but I can find out if you ask. Also, I am not the admin, but I know the admin's password.
