Yes, a warm welcome to all of you guys, I hope you enjoy Planeshift :)

In response to the idea of an Italian guild, the way I see it is there isn't a reason to create Guilds based on real world associations, as they should be created for IC (in character) reasons.

As far as an Italian community thing goes, I don't think there is one, but there is nothing stopping you from starting something similar to the German planeshift community, they have their own forums, I believe.

The idea of an "italian community" comes from other MMORPG, in my case. I don't really need Italian friends to play, just "friends" thinking about the game in my same way ^_^.

Learning about all game features from the site, perhaps, is quite difficult, I'm not able to make a satisfating idea of the game! ^_^ So, I think I have understood that after choosing a race you can take a "specialization" in one or more "careers", like "wizard" or "fighter", is that right? I think that specialization is a "DAOC" style, isn't it?

At this point the qestion begins "which are the peculiarities of the "specialization?" I did search in the site (not in the forum, I'm sorry, but I'm still lurking in the site! XD). Is the magic powerful? Isn't there a "thief class"?

And now the last question (hehe): I know that the game is in a "roleplay style". May I have more than one pg or account? That's not because a want to use more than one client at time (in L2 we call it dualbox), but because i would like to "try" more than one specialization, to choose better the one I fit ^_^

Again, thank for helping. I'm using the serverdown time to make the most possible experience about the game features, and ask to experienced players is the fastest way, of course ^_^

Well, welcome to Planeshift, Danthes!  :D
Regarding "classes" and specialism- Planeshift is a class-free game. The choice made in character creation influence which skills your character has knowledge of to begin with- but your choices do not make any skills easier or harder to learn than the others. Thievery is not currently implemented in the game, but it is still possible to RP a thief using the dice system to indicate chances of success agreed with the player you are attempting to rob.
Hope to see you in game,
Eathon

As far as I know, there is no problem with more then one account. A lot of people use more accounts to connect with two clients to the server. But if you only want to try diffrent kind of characters one account is enough. With each account you can create up to 4 characters. But you can only connect with one character from a account at the same time.

Sorry, only found some very old forum links on this topic...

Thanks for helping, I found almost all the info I needed.

I've managed to create as a first character an Enkidukai, and then specialize it in hand-to-hand combat and thieving. Do you think it could be a good choice to begin playing planeshift?

Well, remember that thieving is one of the skills that is not yet working in game...  But you can RP it  :)
And yes, Enkis are good in melee (and it's not expensive: you need only your hands  :P), anyways you'll always have to train other skills (as strength, endurance and light/medium/heavy armor. If the armor will be light or medium or heavy it will depend by the strength. Obviously people with low strength will not be able to wear an heavy or medium armor. But take care, heavy armor is not the better 'cause it's heavy: if you have high strength and low endurance and agility will not be able to run a lot of time without stop and sit down, if they wear an heavy armor. And if you aren't trained in the right skill, heavy armor will be almost helpless.) to be a good fighter.  ;)

I do know. In general I prefer no-armor or light-armor classes, cause (I'm thinking about DnD) they are faster and more able to dodge attacks, rather than take less damage. I had managed to train expecially agility, rather than strenght and endurance, but I'll have to try, before make my final decision ^_^

Sure. Have fun and when you'll find the right history and look for your character, write here --> http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=24595.0 , as more people said.
Choose carefully.  ;)

You're right, it's hard to find this kind of new people. XilliX will be happy  :P

[raises hand] Here's another! I was talking about DnD to my wife and her friends a few days ago, and it led to my trying to find a good-looking, free MMORPG that she could play on her WinXP laptop and I could play on my iMac. :) Sadly I only discovered the game 18 hours ago! So I decided to do what I could in the meantime: download the client onto both computers, patch and then run the updater, tweak the settings to our liking, and get basically get both machines prepped so that we're ready to jump in when the server comes back online.

Anyway, like Danthes I didn't think I was supposed to post in the official Intro thread until I'd actually created an account in the game... so I'm just lurking and reading in the meantime (aside from this post). :whistling:

Welcome!  :) (and sorry for the lag of the welcome....)

I've found discordant rules about pkapping. Somewere they said that there's only PvP (in which player MUST accept the combat), and in other pages that pkapping is allowed. Probably it's because of different version implementation.

So, my question is: which are the current rules about pkapping? Is it implemented? Does it break any rule? Isn't any limitation (maybe concerning PG level)?

I must admit - I don't know what you mean PKAPPING?
Her Royal Highness Lolitra Hollinthy Purrty nods regally 'I am delighted to meet you' her tiara twinkles in the crystal light.

PK-ing = Player Killing

It's when something kills you staying hide somewhere, without letting you defend. Not a "nice" art, but surely enjoyable in MMORPG ^_^

In most places in Yliakum you have to challenge another player to a duel and the other player have to accept. And even if such a duel is accepted the winner still has the choice not to kill his opponent. But there are a few places where you don't need to challenge another player...

So isn't there any "mass war", and cannot I kill anyone without "permission"? Understood. That's quite a limitation, in my point of view, but surely decreases flame episodes. Now I'm curious to try it ^_^

If you wish to duel, usually there are some players in the Crater in Ojaveda... the Arena is, to my understanding, a PVP area that doesn't require the challeneged to "accept" first.

Ah, I think I forgot guild wars...Sorry, never take part in one, but as far as I know you don't have to challenge anyone from another guild you are at war with. But surely there are no "mass wars". And there are places where fighting is forbidden by law (not by the game mechanics, you still can ignore that law...but then you have to life with the consequences, like a visit in jail or an angry mop hunting you out of the town ;))

I'm going to make just the last 2 questions, before presenting my 2 PGs.

First one: Is it convenient to have a second PG "miner and crafter" in the same account? Isn't there any system to transfer equip or items from a char to another?

And now, the second question: I've created a char using "quick creation", and selecting a preferred "job", which should have given to him same skills. But those skills don't compare in the list. Is that a "normal" problem, or a personal problem?

[Just the last question: which is the highest level I can reach with skills and stats? Is there a "max", or it's "unlimited?]

Again, thanks for helping, I'm almost ready to introduce my character ^^
