Ok Caarrie pointed out a few things so here is the finished post. There should be no problems with this I have checked it over many times and as long as you follow the steps as they are worte you WILL have no problem...

Hello Everyone.
If like me you had the issue of not being able to play the game due to a OpenAL.dll file missing then I know how to fix it!

First of all I will make it really easy to follow and simple to understand for anyone who wants to play it and has this problem. LOL

I know theres a few steps to follow but belive me its worth it!!!!
!!!WARNING!!!
Only follow thease steps one at a time. DO NOT skip a step and please read it all the way through. If you don't understand a step please re-read it or ask for help.
Step 1...
After downloading the game you will now have a file called PlaneShift-v0.4.01.exe find it...

Step 2...

(if your on XP) follow the install instructions and install to defult location. C:\Program Files\PlaneShift Steel Blue

(if your on Vista) follow the install instructions but DON'T install to C:\Program Files\PlaneShift Steel Blue install somewhere ells like C:\Games\PlaneShift Steel Blue
Step 3...
Open up the directory you installed Planeshift to eg C:\Program Files\PlaneShift Steel Blue or C:\Games\PlaneShift Steel Blue depending on what you did for step 2

Step 4...
In that folder you should see a file called updaterinfo.xml... right click it and choose OPEN WITH. Then choose notepad or wordpad. [If you just dubble click it then you wont be able to change it as it will open up as a XML that you cant modify]

Step 5...
The first line of text will read
<config active="false">
Change the word false to true so it then reads
<config active="true">
DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING ELS otherwise the updater will not work

magic
Step 6...
Click file save then close the text file.

Step 7...
In the directory you installed Planeshift to eg C:\Program Files\PlaneShift Steel Blue or C:\Games\PlaneShift Steel Blue depending on what you did for step 2 there will be a file called psupdater.exe... dubble click it.
A black box will pop up saying that it is looking for a new vresion of the updater and updateable files. Let it update... Wait untill it ses that it has finished and press enter like it ses.

Step 8...
Click this link and save the file to your desktop.
http://connect.creativelabs.com/openal/Downloads/oalinst.zipThis will download the installer for OpenAL.dll (dont worry it comes from the people who made OpenAL.dll won't mess things up.)

Step 9...
On your desktop there should now be the new file called oalinst.exe dubble click it and it will install. Then go to C:\Program Files\OpenAL and run the new file in there.

Step 10...

!WARNING! Only do this do not change anything els!

Open up C:\WINDOWS\system32 and find the file called "OpenAL32.dll" right click it and click "copy" NOT cut but "copy"!!!

Step 11...
Open the directory you installed Planeshift to eg C:\Program Files\PlaneShift Steel Blue or C:\Games\PlaneShift Steel Blue depending on what you did for step 2 and right click and click paste.
You will now have the OpenAL.dll and the updater will work...
For some people this will now work for others you will start the game and still see a error message pop up.
For those people still stuck... :Sweat drop:
If you have followed the above and it keeps saying you need to update its not your fault! This may look hard but it's easy to be honest, just follow the next steps.

!!!WARNING!!!
Only follow thease steps one at a time. DO NOT skip a step and please read it all the way through. If you don't understand a step please re-read it or ask for help.

Now heres a few steps to help you find out WHAT VERSION YOU HAVE and HOW MANY TIMES YOU NEED TO UPDATE

Step 1...
Open up the directory you installed Planeshift to eg C:\Program Files\PlaneShift Steel Blue or C:\Games\PlaneShift Steel Blue depending on what you did for step 2 in the above.
Step 2...
In that folder you should see a file called updaterinfo.xml... right click it and choose open with. Then choose notepad or wordpad.
Step 3...
!DO NOT COPY AND PASTE THIS AND DO NOT EDIT THE DOCUMENT!
You should now see a text document saying something LIKE...
<config active="true">
<mirrors>
<mirror id="1" name="psmirror" url="
http://www.psmirror.org/repo/" />
<mirror id="2" name="xordan" url="
http://www.xordan.com/psupdater/" />
</mirrors>
<updater version="5" md5win32="09402c47615f480ba780e490d26c1f7b" md5linux32="1d4036c392c6fef5219afd3ce85b1d41" md5linux64="63b74fcf6d69e348020208054c7a7629" md5macosx="2b1fa3d1c44f2961cd1c7d7608106810" md5macosx1039="77e81133303fea8fbe2baef456a18c44" />
<client>
<version name="0.4.00" md5win32="ce76fa5127532ed1aeb69921316605e7" md5linux32="3fa44e9769af561caecfc8752fa38808" md5linux64="d081fd3f95433a0eba9259b10607abd9" md5macosx="7e2105679a7f8e419038073ddb01c47e" />
...
Step 4...
Where it ses version name="0.4.00" underneeth it, if you have updated more than once, there should be a few more lines of version name=.
The last version name= will be what update you are on.
THIS IS A EXAPMLE DO NOT COPY AND PASTE THIS AND DO NOT EDIT THE DOCUMENT!
<client>

<version name="0.4.01.10" />
<version name="0.4.01.11" />
<version name="0.4.01.12" /> [<----- update number]
Step 5...
Now you know what update you are on go to
http://www.xordan.com/psupdater/ and look at the list of updates for your system..
Win32 for Windows etc
Step 6...
Count how many updates there are for your system.
Step 7...
Count how many updates your text doc ses you have done.
Step 8...
Simple math would state that if your text doc ses you have done 10 updates and there are 14 that you need 4 more... so you do the math...
I hope this help people i know it was a long process but it will hopefully get you up and running...
let me know if it works..
