Game keeps crashing when trying to load new zone after turorial

Hello, how's it going.  I'm not sure if this issue has been brought up and I did check the forums and saw no real topics that dealt with is but let me explain the situation:

After following the procedure on how to update Planeshift on MAC, I had it up and running on the tutorial.  Everything when fine until I finished the tutorial and it was loading to the next zone, it kept crashing and I have no idea on what to do next.  So far I have re-installed  the game with update, changed the settings, but it still crashes when I'm trying to go into the starting zone after the tutorial.  To be specific, when it loads to about 95%, it then goes to the macintosh critical error and crashes, rendering me to have to restart the MacBook I have.  Anyone who experienced the same problem and solved the issue please post on here to tell how it was dealt with, I am using the following:

Is your character a Kran (big rock-like model)? If so, try creating a char of a different race in your second character slot. If you can load that map, it could be related to bug 2056, which is still being worked on.

Is your character a Kran (big rock-like model)? If so, try creating a char of a different race in your second character slot. If you can load that map, it could be related to bug 2056, which is still being worked on.
i dont think so dajoji but there is a simple fix if it is related to certain terrain maps

open pssetup set texture down sampling to 1/2 or further to the right and that should fix the crash.

Tried both, still crashing. It might be the bug you mentioned, I'm going to try some configuring to figure out if it works.

Tried both, still crashing. It might be the bug you mentioned, I'm going to try some configuring to figure out if it works.

that bug is only on ppc macs you said you have an intel so it is not the same bug.

Ugh now no zone will load for any character, I'm at wit's end with this, anyone have a clue what's wrong?

I just want to add that I'm having the same EXACT issue. 

Did the tutorial fine and when I go to play the game itself it crashes after 95%.  I have a macbook also with the same specs.  I looked around and saw this issue came up at least 5 times from what I counted and didn't find any resolution for this matter. 

I use to play planeshift about a year ago and quit for a while and wanted to start playing again.  I unistalled and reinstalled with the latest version. 

If someone has found a way to fix this problem I'd greatly appreciate it.

so I guess this is a problem no one knows how to fix??  I'll keep checking back to see if anyone figures it out, otherwise I'm finding another game to play.

If I already got into map trouble what to do? is there way to get out of there because I just started to play and finished training level. I don't want to do that again with new character. Or is there a way to create new character but not begin again from that teaching level but strait to the city?

I know how to fix it! had the same problem. filter thing. fixed it by (sounds weird i know) turning on my speakers. Make sure you have sound enabled in setup too!

If that doesn't work, try fiddling around with the settings, even the ones that seems unnecessary. Either that or remove things plugged in like headsets, usb cables etc.

This happened to me too! I had a Kran on a Mac OSX v. 10.5.4
I am on steel blue (0.4.02) After the tutorial it just stopped when trying to load new zone. This still happens. I re installed several times. I made a new character and it skipped the tutorial and brought me to the city (I don't know if that's normal since I just started!) Then I walked and talked and started a quest. I tried to examine something and it shut off. I try to load it again and it shuts off. Please help!
