Linux problems...
« on: April 21, 2003, 11:26:56 pm »
Hi, I have awaited the Linux release of the game ever since my friend told me about Planeshift a few weeks ago... However, I have had some difficulty trying to get it to run.
First, i noticed a general lack of documentation for the linux release, or maybe it was just hard to find. But it didn\'t take me long to find out I needed crystal space. So i tried to get it off of the Planeshift site, but it wasn\'t there. Then I found the SF page for it on google. I have successfully installed the latest version (.96r004) but it doesn\'t seem to work with planeshift when i run pssetup.

I get the following error message:
WARNING! Suspicious: object with tag \'iGraphics3D\' doesn\'t implement interface \'iGraphics3D\'!
Couldn\'t load iGraphics3D plugin!
Error initializing system!

and then pssetup quits out.
I can\'t seem to figure out what\'s going on... i tried running the updater and running psclient-bin, but nothing helped. Is there some documentation on this? or is this a bug?

RedHat Linux 8.0--mostly patched
Athlon 1.33 GHz
256MB PC2100 RAM

im somewhat of a n00b to linux, so feel free to call me an idiot

any help appreciated,
Dan

If I\'m not mistaken, there\'s a forum called \"Technical Problems\" ? Anyhow, if you\'re not too noobish to get into IRC, connect to irc.freenode.net #planeshift ... That\'s the Dev. hideout. :P

The devs are building a source package at the moment, which contains everything you need. I expect it to be out in a couple of days.
I\'d wait and try that one if I were you, because it\'ll probably be the easiest sollution to your problems.
